완도군이 기후변화, 가축 질병, 생산성 저하 등 축산업이 직면한 복합적인 문제에 대응하기 위해 ‘스마트 축산 기술 보급 시범 사업’을 추진하고 있다.

군은 총 3억 8천만 원을 투입해 7개 사업, 24개소에 스마트 축산 기술을 도입 중이며, 인공지능(AI), 사물인터넷(IoT) 등 첨단 정보통신기술(ICT)을 접목해 축산 환경 변화에 선제적으로 대응하고 생산 효율성과 농가 소득을 높이는 데 주력하고 있다.

특히 한우와 흑염소 농가를 대상으로 현장 맞춤형 기술 보급이 이뤄지고 있다.

한우 스마트팜 번식 관리 시스템은 축사 내 설치된 카메라가 가축의 움직임과 행동을 분석해 행동 변화를 알려주는 방식으로, 승가 검출률이 90% 이상에 달해 농가의 노동 부담을 줄이고 번식 효율을 높이는 효과가 확인됐다.

또한 에어제트팬 및 측벽 배기팬 설치 시범 사업은 지난해부터 국비를 확보해 6개소에 보급됐다.

일반적인 팬이 단순히 공기를 순환시키는 것과 달리, 에어제트팬은 축사 상층부의 더운 공기를 밀어내고 측벽 배기팬을 통해 외부로 배출하는 방식이다.

이를 통해 여름철 축사 내부 온도가 약 2도, 습도가 3% 가량 낮아지는 효과가 나타났다.

군 관계자는 “이번 시범 사업은 축산업의 경쟁력 강화와 농가 소득 증대를 동시에 꾀할 수 있는 중요한 발판이 될 것”이라며 “앞으로도 현장 중심의 스마트 축산 기술을 지속적으로 확대·보급해 나가겠다.”고 말했다.

Wando County Launches Pilot Project for Smart Livestock Technology
7 projects at 24 sites… boosting productivity of Hanwoo cattle and black goats
Wando County is implementing a pilot project to introduce smart livestock technology in response to climate change, livestock diseases, and productivity challenges.
With a budget of 380 million KRW, the county is applying advanced ICT technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to 7 projects across 24 sites, aiming to improve efficiency and increase farm income.
In particular, the program targets Hanwoo cattle and black goat farms with tailored, on-site solutions. The Hanwoo Smart Farm Breeding Management System, which uses cameras to analyze livestock movements and behaviors, has achieved a mating detection rate of over 90%, reducing labor and enhancing breeding efficiency.
Additionally, air jet fans and side wall exhaust fans have been installed at 6 sites since last year with national funding. Unlike conventional fans, this system pushes hot air from the upper part of the barn outward and expels it through side exhaust fans, lowering summer barn temperatures by about 2°C and humidity by 3%.
A county official stated, “This pilot project will serve as an important foundation to strengthen competitiveness in the livestock sector and increase farmers’ income. We will continue to expand and distribute smart livestock technologies focused on field applications.”
