전직 소방관, 이웃 80대 노인 ‘생명의 손길’… 해남소방서 정신 빛나

해남소방서에서 구조대장으로 근무했던 전직 소방관 강신권 씨가 이웃 마을의 80대 노인을 위급한 상황에서 신속한 응급처치로 소생시켰다.

지난 8일 오후 3시경, 해남읍 연동 마을.
강 씨는 집 앞 마루에서 중심을 잃고 쓰러진 노인을 발견했다.
머리에 외상을 입고 뇌출혈 증세를 보이던 환자는 의식이 혼미했고, 구토로 기도가 막히는 아찔한 순간이었다.

강 씨는 망설임 없이 달려가 상처 부위를 지혈하고 기도를 확보했다.

이어 환자의 호흡과 의식을 끝까지 지켜보며 침착하게 대응한 덕분에, 도착한 119구급대에 무사히 인계할 수 있었다.

이 노인은 현재 병원에서 회복 중이다.

강신권 전 소방관은 “오랜 소방 생활 덕분에 응급상황에 대한 훈련이 몸에 배어 있었다.”며 “누구라도 같은 상황에 처한다면 주저 없이 도울 것”이라고 전했다.

해남소방서 관계자는 “강 전 대장은 재직 시절에도 직원들에게 모범이 되는 리더였다.”며 “전역 이후에도 이웃의 생명을 지켜낸 그의 행동은 소방 정신을 보여주는 감동적인 사례”라고 밝혔다.

Retired Firefighter Saves Neighbor in His 80s with ‘Life-Saving Hands’… The Spirit of Haenam Fire Station Shines
“My body reacted first. The only thought I had was to save a life.”
Former firefighter Kang Shin-kwon, who once served as the rescue team leader at Haenam Fire Station, saved the life of a man in his 80s from his neighborhood by performing swift first aid during an emergency situation.
At around 3 p.m. on September 8 in Yeondong Village, Haenam-eup, Kang witnessed the elderly man collapse on the porch of his house. The man, who had sustained a head injury and showed signs of cerebral hemorrhage, was losing consciousness, and vomit had blocked his airway in a critical moment.
Without hesitation, Kang rushed to the scene, stopped the bleeding, and cleared the man’s airway. Thanks to his calm and precise response, he continuously monitored the patient’s breathing and consciousness until he was safely handed over to the arriving 119 paramedics.
The elderly man is now recovering in the hospital.
Kang said, “My years of service as a firefighter ingrained emergency response into my body. If such a situation arises again, I will not hesitate to help.”
A Haenam Fire Station official commented, “Former Team Leader Kang was a role model to his colleagues during his service. Even after retirement, his action in saving a neighbor’s life is a moving example that truly embodies the spirit of firefighting.”
