진도 용호리 앞바다 어선 표류…70대 선장 실종, 해경 총력 수색 중

완도해양경찰서(서장 김길규)는 18일 오후 4시 38분경 전남 진도군 용호리 앞 해상에서 어선 A호(0.89톤)가 승선원 없이 표류 중이라는 신고를 접수, 즉시 구조세력을 투입해 수색작업에 돌입했다.

해경에 따르면 A호의 선장 B씨(70대, 남)는 이날 오후 용호항에서 출항했으나, 같은 날 오후 4시경 마을 주민이 승선자가 없는 채 표류 중인 A호를 발견해 신고했다.

긴급 출동한 해경은 파출소 연안구조정을 비롯해 완도구조대와 헬기까지 가용 전력을 총동원, 실종자 수색에 나섰다.

현재 현장에는 경비함정 5척, 헬기 1대, 해양재난구조선 9척 등이 투입돼 해상과 공중에서 수색 범위를 넓히며 실종자를 찾고 있다.

완도해경 관계자는 “선장이 바다에 실종됐을 가능성이 높은 만큼 모든 가용세력을 총동원해 조속한 구조에 최선을 다하고 있다”며 “주민들의 적극적인 제보와 협조도 절실하다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 해경은 사고 경위를 조사하는 한편, 야간에도 수색작업을 이어갈 방침이다.

Fishing Boat Found Adrift off Jindo’s Yongho-ri…70s Captain Missing, Coast Guard in Full-Scale Search
The Wando Coast Guard (Chief Kim Gil-gyu) received a report at 4:38 p.m. on the 18th that a fishing boat, A (0.89 tons), was drifting without crew aboard off the coast of Yongho-ri, Jindo-gun, South Jeolla Province. The Coast Guard immediately dispatched rescue units and launched a search operation.
According to the Coast Guard, the captain of A, Mr. B (male, in his 70s), had departed from Yongho Port earlier in the day. At around 4 p.m., a local resident discovered the vessel adrift with no one on board and reported it to authorities.
In response, the Coast Guard urgently deployed all available forces, including a coastal patrol rescue boat, the Wando Rescue Team, and a helicopter, to search for the missing captain.
Currently, five patrol vessels, one helicopter, and nine maritime disaster response vessels are engaged in the operation, expanding the search both at sea and from the air.
A Wando Coast Guard official stated, “There is a high possibility that the captain went missing at sea. We are mobilizing every available resource to secure a swift rescue, and active cooperation and information from local residents are also vital.”
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances of the incident and plans to continue search operations through the night.
