해남·진도 울돌목, 최첨단 디지털 해전과 다채로운 체험 즐길거리 가득
전라남도와 해남군, 진도군이 공동 주최하고 (재)전라남도 관광재단이 주관하는 2025 명량대첩축제가 오는 19일부터 21일까지 3일간 울돌목 일원에서 열린다.

명량대첩축제는 1597년 정유재란 당시, 단 13척의 배로 133척의 왜선을 무찌른 명량대첩을 기념하며, 이순신 장군과 민초들의 호국정신을 되새기는 대한민국 대표 역사·문화 축제다.

매년 가을, 울돌목 승전지에서 펼쳐지는 축제는 관광객들에게 역사적 감동과 체험의 즐거움을 동시에 선사해왔다.

지난해 축제에는 3만여 명의 관람객이 다녀가며 울돌목의 장관과 다채로운 공연을 만끽했다.

특히 디지털 융복합 해전 재현 공연과 불꽃놀이, 체험 프로그램은 관람객들로부터 높은 호응을 얻어 “역사와 즐거움을 동시에 느낄 수 있는 최고의 축제”라는 평가를 받았다.

올해 축제는 해남 우수영 관광지를 주 무대로, 명량의 역사와 문화를 생생하게 체험할 수 있는 프로그램이 풍성하게 펼쳐진다.

개막일에는 해남·진도 군민이 함께하는 출정 퍼레이드와 개막식을 시작으로, 판옥선 주 무대에서 펼쳐지는 ICT 기반 디지털 해상전투 재현이 관람객을 압도할 예정이다.

아크로바틱과 화려한 파이어웍스가 어우러진 주제 공연, 소향·김준수 출연 명량 축하쇼, 그리고 화려한 불꽃놀이가 축제의 밤을 장식한다.

축제 기간 동안 우수영 명량무대와 성문광장에서는 가족 단위 관람객을 위한 다양한 공연과 체험이 마련된다.

온겨레 강강술래대회, 전국청소년 트로트 가요제, K-팝 랜덤플레이, 버블·매직쇼 등 흥미진진한 볼거리가 가득하다.

또한 명량하늘놀이터, 수문장 교대식, 이순신 밥상 체험, 장군복 체험, 포토존 등 참여형 프로그램을 통해 남녀노소 누구나 즐길 수 있다.

명현관 해남군수는 “이순신 장군과 민초들이 함께 이룩한 명량대첩의 승리 정신을 직접 느낄 수 있는 축제에 많은 분들이 함께해 주시길 바란다. 선조들의 호국 정신과 기개를 축제 속에서 되새기길 바란다.”고 전했다.

울돌목 일원에는 명량대첩 기념탑과 기념공원, 회오리 바다를 조망할 수 있는 스카이워크, 울돌목 바다 위를 가로지르는 1km 명량해상케이블카가 운영되어, 관람객들에게 색다른 즐거움과 추억을 제공한다.

지난해 관람객들이 “역사적 현장 속에서 즐기고, 사진과 영상으로 남기는 순간이 가장 값졌다.”고 입을 모은 명량대첩축제.

이번 2025년에도 울돌목에서 펼쳐지는 불멸의 명량, 호국의 기개를 놓치지 말자.

2025 Myeongnyang Victory Festival to be Held from September 19–21
Uldolmok in Haenam and Jindo, Packed with Cutting-Edge Digital Naval Battles and Exciting Experiences
The 2025 Myeongnyang Victory Festival, jointly hosted by Jeollanam-do, Haenam County, and Jindo County and organized by the Jeollanam-do Tourism Foundation, will take place from September 19 to 21 at the Uldolmok area.
The Myeongnyang Victory Festival commemorates the historic Battle of Myeongnyang in 1597, when Admiral Yi Sun-sin and his crew defeated 133 Japanese ships with only 13 Korean warships. The festival honors the patriotic spirit of Admiral Yi and the people of Korea, and has become a premier historical and cultural festival in the country.
Every autumn, the festival held at the Uldolmok victory site offers visitors both historical inspiration and immersive experiences.
Last year, the festival drew over 30,000 visitors, who marveled at the stunning Uldolmok scenery and enjoyed a wide range of performances. The digital hybrid naval battle reenactments, fireworks, and interactive programs received particularly high praise, with visitors describing the festival as “the perfect combination of history and entertainment.”
This year, the festival will take place mainly at Usuyeong Tourist Site in Haenam, featuring programs that allow visitors to experience the history and culture of Myeongnyang firsthand.
The opening day will feature a departure parade and opening ceremony with participation from Haenam and Jindo residents, followed by an ICT-based digital naval battle reenactment on a Panokseon-style main stage that is sure to captivate the audience. The main performances will also include acrobatics, dazzling fireworks, a celebratory show by So-hyang and Kim Junsu, and spectacular night fireworks.
During the festival, the Usuyeong Myeongnyang Stage and Seongmun Plaza will host a variety of family-friendly performances and activities, including the On-Gyeore Ganggangsullae Dance Festival, National Youth Trot Singing Contest, K-Pop Random Play, Bubble and Magic Shows, and more.
Interactive programs such as the Myeongnyang Sky Playground, Guard Changing Ceremony, Yi Sun-sin Dining Experience, Admiral Costume Experience, and Photo Zones allow visitors of all ages to participate and enjoy.
Haenam County Governor Myeon Hyeon-gwan stated, “We hope many people join this festival to experience the victorious spirit of the Battle of Myeongnyang, achieved by Admiral Yi Sun-sin and ordinary citizens together, and reflect on the patriotic spirit and courage of our ancestors.”
The Uldolmok area also features the Myeongnyang Victory Monument and Memorial Park, a skywalk with panoramic views of the whirlpool sea, and a 1km Myeongnyang Sea Cable Car crossing the waters, offering visitors unique experiences and unforgettable memories.
Last year, festival-goers remarked that “the most valuable moments were enjoying the historical site while capturing photos and videos.” This 2025 Myeongnyang Victory Festival promises once again to bring the immortal spirit of Myeongnyang and patriotic courage to Uldolmok.
