완도해양경찰서(서장 김길규)는 9월 10일 청사 강당에서 제72주년 해양경찰의 날 기념행사를 개최했다.

이번 행사는 해양주권 수호와 해양안전의 중요성을 되새기기 위해 간소하면서도 의미 있게 진행됐다.

앞서 완도해경은 ‘72RUN’ 사회공헌 캠페인을 통해 전 직원이 72km를 누적 완주하고, 지역 소외계층 72가구에 쌀 10kg을 전달하며 기념일의 의미를 나눴다.

이날 기념식에서는 김용진 해양경찰청장의 기념사가 대독됐으며, 해양수산부 장관 표창과 해양경찰청장 감사장 등 경찰관 4명과 민간인 2명이 유공 표창을 수상했다.

김길규 서장은 “창설 72주년을 맞아 새로운 각오로 해양주권을 지키고 국민의 생명과 안전을 지켜내는 든든한 해양경찰이 되겠다.”고 밝혔다.

Wando Coast Guard Holds 72nd Marine Police Day Ceremony
The Wando Coast Guard (Chief Kim Gil-gyu) held a ceremony at the headquarters auditorium on September 10 to mark the 72nd Marine Police Day.
The event was conducted in a simple yet meaningful manner to reaffirm the importance of safeguarding maritime sovereignty and ensuring maritime safety.
In advance of the ceremony, the Wando Coast Guard carried out the “72RUN” social contribution campaign, during which all officers collectively completed a cumulative 72 km run. As part of the campaign, they delivered 10 kg of rice to 72 underprivileged households in the local community, sharing the significance of the anniversary with residents.
During the ceremony, a commemorative address from Kim Yong-jin, Commissioner General of the Korea Coast Guard, was read aloud. In the awards session, four officers received commendations, including the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award, while two civilians were recognized with the Commissioner General’s Certificate of Appreciation.
Chief Kim Gil-gyu stated, “On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Coast Guard’s founding, we renew our commitment to firmly protect maritime sovereignty and to serve as a reliable Coast Guard that safeguards the lives and safety of the people.”
