해남군교육재단, ‘도담도담 멘토링’으로 이주배경 청소년 성장 돕는다

해남군교육재단(이사장 명현관)은 지난 6일 재단 3층 강의실에서 ‘도담도담 멘토링’ 발대식을 열고, 대학생 멘토와 이주배경 청소년 멘티가 함께하는 뜻깊은 여정을 시작했다.

이번 사업은 해남군교육재단이 해남군가족센터와 함께 추진하는 교육특구 사업으로, 다문화·이주배경 청소년들이 지역사회 속에서 안정적으로 성장할 수 있도록 학습·진로·정서 지원을 아우르는 맞춤형 멘토링 프로그램이다.

■ 1:1 맞춤형 성장 동행
멘토링은 대학생과 이주배경 청소년이 1:1로 연결되어 진행된다. 단순한 교과 보충 학습을 넘어 진로 탐색, 기본 소양 교육, 정서적 지지까지 함께하며, 청소년들이 자기주도 학습 습관을 기르고 진로 역량을 키울 수 있도록 돕는다.

대학생 멘토들은 자신의 대학 생활 경험과 학습 노하우를 공유하며 멘티들의 든든한 길잡이 역할을 맡게 된다.

특히 온라인 플랫폼을 활용해 월 4회 이상 멘토링을 이어가며, 오는 12월까지 총 12회의 정기적 활동이 운영된다.

■ 함께 배우고, 함께 성장하는 체험의 장
발대식에서는 프로그램 안내와 함께 멘토·멘티 간 이해를 높이는 활동, 영화 관람 등 문화체험이 진행되어 서로 가까워지는 시간을 가졌다.
이후에도 다양한 교류 활동을 통해 청소년들이 학습뿐만 아니라 지역사회 문화와 취미 활동에도 자연스럽게 참여할 수 있는 기회가 제공된다.

예를 들어, 미술·음악·스포츠와 같은 취미 분야까지 지원을 넓혀 청소년들이 자신만의 관심사와 재능을 발견할 수 있도록 돕는 것도 멘토링의 중요한 효과 중 하나다.

이는 교육재단 설립 목적 중 하나인 지역 균민들의 평생학습 기회 확대와도 맞닿아 있다.

■ 지역사회와 함께하는 교육재단
해남군교육재단 관계자는 “대학생 멘토와 이주배경 청소년 멘티가 서로에게 든든한 버팀목이 되어 함께 성장하는 계기가 되기를 기대한다”며, “앞으로도 다양한 맞춤형 교육 지원 사업을 통해 해남의 청소년들이 미래 사회의 주역으로 성장할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

해남군교육재단은 설립 이후 장학사업, 교육환경 개선, 주민 대상 평생교육 프로그램 등을 추진하며, 지역 청소년뿐 아니라 모든 군민이 배움과 취미 활동을 통해 성장할 수 있는 교육 공동체를 실현해 가고 있다.

Haenam County Education Foundation Launches “Dodam-Dodam Mentoring” to Support Youth from Multicultural Backgrounds
― A Special Education Zone Program Connecting University Student Mentors and Youth Mentees ―
The Haenam County Education Foundation (Chairman Myung Hyun-gwan) held a launching ceremony for the “Dodam-Dodam Mentoring” program on the 6th at the foundation’s 3rd floor lecture hall, marking the beginning of a meaningful journey between university student mentors and youth mentees from multicultural backgrounds.
This initiative is part of the Special Education Zone project jointly promoted by the Haenam County Education Foundation and the Haenam County Family Center. The program is designed to support the stable growth of youth from immigrant and multicultural families by providing tailored mentoring that encompasses academic, career, and emotional support.
■ One-on-One Personalized Growth Partnership
The mentoring program pairs each university student with a youth mentee on a one-to-one basis. Beyond supplementary academic learning, it also includes career exploration, basic life skills education, and emotional support, helping students build self-directed study habits and develop career competencies.
The university student mentors will serve as reliable guides, sharing their own college experiences and learning know-how.
In particular, the program will use online platforms to conduct mentoring at least four times a month, with a total of 12 sessions scheduled to run through December.
■ Learning and Growing Together
At the launching ceremony, program guidance and activities to enhance mutual understanding between mentors and mentees were conducted, followed by cultural activities such as watching a movie together to help participants bond.
Going forward, a variety of exchange activities will provide opportunities for youth to engage not only in learning but also in cultural and recreational experiences within the community.
For example, by extending support into areas such as art, music, and sports, the mentoring program will help youth discover their own interests and talents. This reflects one of the foundation’s core purposes—expanding lifelong learning opportunities for all county residents.
■ An Education Foundation Growing with the Community
A representative of the Haenam County Education Foundation stated, “We hope this program will serve as a stepping stone for university student mentors and multicultural youth mentees to become reliable companions for one another and grow together. We will continue to actively support customized educational programs so that Haenam’s youth can become the leaders of tomorrow.”
Since its establishment, the Haenam County Education Foundation has pursued scholarship programs, improvements in educational environments, and lifelong learning initiatives for residents, striving to build an educational community where both youth and citizens can grow through learning and shared activities.
