진도군전복협회(회장 김종석)가 11월 10일(월)부터 14일(금)까지 관내 18개 학교를 대상으로 ‘학교급식 진도전복 먹는 날’ 운동을 전개하며 지역 대표 수산물 소비 촉진에 나섰다.

이번 행사는 어가의 어려움을 덜고, 학생들에게 청정 진도바다의 건강한 먹거리를 제공하기 위해 마련됐다.

협회는 총 354kg의 신선한 진도산 전복을 무료로 제공했으며, 학교별 급식에서는 전복버터구이, 전복밥, 전복죽, 전복미역국, 전복소불고기, 전복장조림 등 다양한 메뉴로 조리돼 학생들의 식탁에 올랐다.

김종석 회장은 “전복은 진도의 깨끗한 바다에서 자란 최고의 건강식품”이라며, “학생들이 이번 급식을 통해 전복의 맛과 영양을 느끼고, 올바른 식습관을 형성하길 바란다.”고 전했다.

전복 소비 감소와 가격 하락으로 어민들의 어려움이 이어지는 가운데, 진도군은 전복 소비 활성화와 안정적 판로 확보를 위한 다양한 지원 정책을 추진하고 있다.

한편, 진도군전복협회는 2007년 창립 이후 현재 189개 어가가 참여하고 있으며, 지난해에도 같은 행사로 16개 학교에 313kg의 전복을 제공하며 지역사회와 함께하는 나눔을 이어왔다.

진도군 관계자는 “앞으로도 학교급식 연계 프로그램을 확대해 학생 건강과 지역경제를 함께 살리는 ‘상생의 급식 문화’를 정착시켜 나가겠다.”고 밝혔다.

Jindo Abalone Association Promotes ‘School Meal Abalone Day’ to Boost Health and the Local Economy
The Jindo Abalone Association (Chairman Kim Jong-seok) is leading the “School Meal Jindo Abalone Day” campaign from November 10 (Mon) to 14 (Fri) across 18 schools in the county, promoting consumption of Jindo’s signature seafood and revitalizing the local economy.
The initiative was organized to support local fishers struggling with declining abalone consumption and to offer students a taste of the healthy, clean seafood grown in Jindo’s pristine waters.
A total of 354 kilograms of fresh Jindo abalone were provided free of charge, and schools served various dishes such as grilled abalone with butter, abalone rice, abalone porridge, abalone seaweed soup, beef bulgogi with abalone, and braised abalone as part of the school meals.
Chairman Kim Jong-seok stated, “Abalone is one of the healthiest foods nurtured in the clean waters of Jindo. We hope this program helps students appreciate its rich flavor and nutrition while developing healthy eating habits.”
With abalone consumption and prices continuing to decline, Jindo County is implementing a range of support policies to boost sales and secure stable markets for local fishers.
Meanwhile, the Jindo Abalone Association, established in 2007, currently includes 189 member farms. Last year, the association carried out a similar campaign, providing 313 kilograms of abalone to 16 schools, continuing its tradition of community sharing.
A Jindo County official remarked, “We plan to further expand programs linked to school meals to foster a ‘win-win dining culture’ that promotes both student health and the local economy.”
