제9회 옥천 무궁화축제 14일 개최…“나라꽃 의미 되새긴다”

제9회 옥천 무궁화축제가 오는 8월 14일 오후 4시 해남군 옥천면 지강 양한묵 생가 기념원에서 열린다.

해남군이 주최하고 무궁화축제추진위원회가 주관하는 이번 행사는 광복절을 앞두고 나라꽃 무궁화의 역사적 의미를 되새기고, 지역 주민과 함께 나라사랑 정신을 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.

행사장인 지강 양한묵 생가 기념원은 독립운동가 지강 양한묵 선생의 숭고한 애국정신을 기리는 공간이다. 이에 따라 이번 축제는 무궁화의 상징성과 독립운동 정신을 함께 되새기는 뜻깊은 자리가 될 것으로 기대된다.

올해로 9회째를 맞는 옥천 무궁화축제는 주민들이 함께 어울리는 화합의 장을 마련하고, 지역의 역사·문화적 가치를 널리 알리는 데 의미를 두고 진행된다.

행사 관계자는 “광복절을 앞두고 나라꽃 무궁화의 의미와 선열들의 나라사랑 정신을 다시 생각하는 시간이 되길 바란다.”며 “지역 주민과 방문객들의 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드린다.”고 말했다.

한편 축제는 14일 오후 4시부터 해남군 옥천면 영신길 4-25에 있는 지강 양한묵 생가 기념원에서 개최된다.

The 9th Okcheon Mugunghwa Festival will be held at 4 p.m. on August 14 at the Jigang Yang Han-muk Birthplace Memorial in Okcheon-myeon, Haenam County.
Hosted by Haenam County and organized by the Mugunghwa Festival Organizing Committee, the event has been arranged ahead of Korea’s Liberation Day to reflect on the historical significance of the Mugunghwa, the country’s national flower, and to share the spirit of patriotism with local residents.
The Jigang Yang Han-muk Birthplace Memorial commemorates the noble patriotic spirit of independence activist Jigang Yang Han-muk. Accordingly, the festival is expected to provide a meaningful opportunity to reflect on both the symbolism of the Mugunghwa and the legacy of Korea’s independence movement.
Now in its ninth year, the Okcheon Mugunghwa Festival aims to bring residents together, promote community harmony, and raise awareness of the area’s historical and cultural heritage.
An event official said, “We hope the festival will offer an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the Mugunghwa and the patriotic spirit of those who devoted themselves to the nation ahead of Liberation Day. We encourage local residents and visitors to attend and take part in the event.”
