“고수온·태풍 피해 대비 서둘러야”… 전남도, 양식수산물 재해보험 가입 당부

전라남도가 여름철 고수온과 적조, 태풍, 집중호우 등 자연재해에 따른 양식수산물 피해에 대비해 도내 양식어가를 대상으로 재해보험 가입을 서둘러 줄 것을 당부했다.

최근 기후변화 영향으로 고수온 발생 시기가 빨라지고 기상 변동성이 커지면서, 양식수산물 재해보험 가입기한도 기존 6월에서 5월로 한 달 앞당겨졌다.

가입을 희망하는 어가는 가까운 지구별·업종별 수협을 통해 대상 품목과 보장 내용, 보험료 지원 여부 등을 확인할 수 있다.

보험 대상 품목은 ▲넙치 ▲참전복 ▲해상가두리어류(조피볼락·숭어·참돔·감성돔·볼락·돌돔·쥐치·농어·능성어 및 시설물) ▲강도다리 ▲육상수조식 돌돔·전복 ▲터봇 ▲전복종자 ▲육상수조식 양식시설물 ▲육상수조식 종자 양식시설물 등이다.

전남도는 어업인의 경제적 부담을 줄이기 위해 정부와 함께 보험료의 최대 90%를 지원하고 있으며, 보장 품종 확대와 제도 개선도 지속적으로 정부에 건의하고 있다.
실제로 지난해에는 도내 1천731어가가 재해보험에 가입했으며, 총 62건에 대해 약 48억 원의 보험금이 지급됐다.

전창우 전남도 친환경수산과장은 “최근 기후변화로 고수온 등 자연재해 위험이 갈수록 커지고 있어 사전 대비가 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “가입 기한이 5월 말로 앞당겨진 만큼 양식어가에서는 늦지 않게 보험에 가입해 여름철 피해에 대비하길 바란다.”고 말했다.

Jeollanam-do Urges Aquaculture Farmers to Enroll in Disaster Insurance
Enrollment Deadline Moved Up from June to May… Up to 90% of Premiums Supported
Jeollanam-do Province has urged aquaculture farmers across the region to quickly enroll in aquaculture disaster insurance to prepare for natural disasters such as high water temperatures, red tides, typhoons, and torrential rainfall during the summer season.
Due to climate change, periods of high water temperatures are arriving earlier each year and weather volatility is increasing. As a result, the enrollment deadline for aquaculture disaster insurance has been moved forward by one month, from June to May.
Farmers wishing to enroll can check eligible species, coverage details, and premium support availability through nearby fisheries cooperatives categorized by region and industry sector.
Eligible insurance items include:
▲ Olive flounder
▲ Abalone
▲ Marine cage-cultured fish species (including rockfish, mullet, red seabream, black porgy, goldeye rockfish, parrot fish, filefish, seabass, grouper, and related facilities)
▲ Starry flounder
▲ Land-based tank-cultured parrot fish and abalone
▲ Turbot
▲ Abalone seedlings
▲ Land-based aquaculture facilities
▲ Land-based hatchery aquaculture facilities
To reduce the financial burden on fish farmers, Jeollanam-do and the central government are supporting up to 90% of insurance premiums. The province is also continuously requesting institutional improvements, including the expansion of covered species.
Last year, 1,731 aquaculture farms in Jeonnam enrolled in the insurance program, and a total of 4.8 billion won in insurance payouts was provided across 62 cases.
Jeon Chang-woo, Director of the Eco-friendly Fisheries Division of Jeollanam-do, said, “As climate change increases the risks of natural disasters such as high water temperatures, proactive preparation has become more important than ever. Since the enrollment deadline has been moved up to the end of May, we hope aquaculture farmers will sign up in time to prepare for summer damage.”
