“남은 늦더위 건강하게 이겨내길”…해남교도소 교정협의회, 생수 5천병 기부

늦더위가 이어지고 있는 가운데 해남교도소 교정협의회가 수용자들의 건강한 수용생활을 돕기 위해 생수 5,000병을 기부했다.

해남교도소(소장 김남진)는 7일 해남교도소 교정협의회(회장 서영수)로부터 수용자 혹서기 지원 물품으로 생수 5,000병을 전달받았다고 밝혔다.

이번 생수 지원은 늦더위와 환절기를 맞아 수용자들의 건강관리를 돕고 보다 안전한 수용환경을 조성하기 위해 마련됐다.

특히 이번 기부에는 교정협의회 박희석 부회장과 정도영 사무국장, 채윤미·최애영 교화위원이 후원에 참여해 의미를 더했다.

해남교도소 교정협의회는 매년 혹서기마다 생수를 지원하는 등 수용자들의 안정적인 수용생활과 교정교화를 돕기 위한 나눔 활동을 꾸준히 펼치고 있다.

단순한 물품 지원에 그치지 않고 수용자들이 수용생활을 마친 뒤 지역사회의 구성원으로 원활하게 복귀할 수 있도록 교화와 사회복귀를 위한 다양한 지원 활동도 이어가고 있다.

서영수 해남교도소 교정협의회장은 “계절이 바뀌는 시기에 수용자들이 건강을 잃지 않고 남은 늦더위를 잘 이겨내길 바란다.”며 “앞으로도 수용자들의 교정교화와 성공적인 사회복귀를 위해 교정협의회가 다양한 나눔 활동을 이어가겠다.”고 말했다.

김남진 해남교도소장은 “매년 잊지 않고 온정을 베풀어 주시는 교정협의회 위원들께 진심으로 감사드린다.”며 “전달받은 생수는 수용자들에게 신속히 지급해 환절기 건강관리에 도움이 되도록 하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

이어 “수용자들이 보다 안전하고 건강한 환경에서 생활할 수 있도록 수용환경 관리에도 최선을 다하겠다.”고 덧붙였다.

이번 생수 기부는 무더위 속 수용자들의 건강을 살피는 동시에 교정시설과 지역사회가 함께 교정교화와 안정적인 사회복귀를 지원한다는 점에서 의미를 더하고 있다.

As lingering summer heat continues, the Haenam Correctional Institution Council has donated 5,000 bottles of water to help inmates maintain their health and well-being.
Haenam Correctional Institution, headed by Warden Kim Nam-jin, announced on September 7 that it had received 5,000 bottles of water from the Haenam Correctional Institution Council, chaired by Seo Young-su, as part of its seasonal support for inmates during the late-summer heat.
The donation was organized to help inmates manage their health during the lingering heat and the transition between seasons, while also contributing to a safer and healthier correctional environment.
The donation was made possible through the support of Vice Chairman Park Hee-seok, Secretary-General Jeong Do-young, and Correctional Committee Members Chae Yun-mi and Choi Ae-young.
The Haenam Correctional Institution Council has continued various charitable activities each year, including providing bottled water during periods of extreme summer heat, to support inmates' well-being, rehabilitation, and correctional programs.
Beyond providing essential supplies, the council also carries out various programs aimed at helping inmates successfully reintegrate into society after completing their sentences.
“We hope that inmates will stay healthy during this seasonal transition and safely get through the remaining summer heat,” Chairman Seo Young-su said. “The council will continue its various charitable and support activities to promote rehabilitation and help inmates successfully return to society.”
Warden Kim Nam-jin expressed his appreciation, saying, “I sincerely thank the members of the Correctional Institution Council for their continued generosity and support every year.”
“The donated bottled water will be distributed promptly to inmates so that it can help them maintain their health during the seasonal transition,” he said.
“We will also continue doing our utmost to provide inmates with a safe and healthy correctional environment,” Kim added.
The donation carries particular significance as it demonstrates how the correctional institution and the local community can work together not only to safeguard inmates' health during periods of hot weather but also to support their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.
