연말의 찬 공기가 마을 골목을 파고들던 지난 12월 12일, 해남군 한전MCS(주) 해남지점 ‘땅끝 빛 봉사단’의 발걸음은 해남희망원으로 향했다.

이날 봉사단은 단순한 방문이 아닌, 마음을 담은 봉사활동과 성금 기탁으로 다시 한 번 희망원의 겨울을 밝혔다.

지난해에 이어 올해도 이어진 나눔이었다.

한전MCS(주) 해남지점은 지난 2022년 해남희망원과 업무협약을 체결한 이후, 말보다 행동으로, 일회성이 아닌 매년 정기적인 후원을 통해 사회적 소외계층과의 약속을 지켜오고 있다.

조용하지만 꾸준한 이 동행은 어느새 3년째를 맞았다.

전순호 지점장은 이날 “추운 연말연시일수록 더 외로워질 수 있는 이웃들에게 조금이나마 따뜻한 온기가 되기를 바라는 마음으로 후원을 이어가고 있다”며 “지역과 함께 존재하는 공기업으로서 당연히 해야 할 역할”이라고 말했다.

해남희망원 관계자는 “매년 잊지 않고 찾아와 주는 마음이 후원금 이상의 위로가 된다.”며 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

한전MCS(주) 해남지점은 ESG 경영 실천의 일환으로 지역 사회복지기관과의 협약을 확대하며, 사회적 취약계층 지원, 봉사활동, 나눔 문화 확산에 앞장서고 있다.

빛을 관리하는 회사답게, 그들의 나눔은 눈에 띄지 않아도 가장 어두운 곳을 먼저 밝히고 있다.
거창한 행사도, 요란한 구호도 없었다.

그러나 해남의 땅끝에서 시작된 작은 빛은 올해도 어김없이 희망원의 겨울을 데우고 있었다.

지역을 지키는 손길이 곧 지역의 희망임을, 한전MCS 해남지점 ‘땅끝 빛 봉사단’은 다시 한 번 증명했다.

A Quiet but Deeply Meaningful Partnership Entering Its Third Year
On December 12, as the cold year-end air crept through village alleys, the footsteps of the Land’s End Light Volunteer Group from KEPCO MCS Co., Haenam Branch, were headed toward Haenam Hope Center.
This was not a simple visit.
Through volunteer service and a heartfelt donation, the group once again brought warmth to Hope Center’s winter.
It was a continuation of last year’s act of sharing—and of the years before.
Since signing a cooperation agreement with Haenam Hope Center in 2022, KEPCO MCS Haenam Branch has honored its commitment to socially marginalized neighbors not with words, but with action—through consistent, annual support rather than one-time gestures.
This quiet yet steady companionship has now entered its third year.
Branch Manager Jeon Sun-ho said,
“During the cold year-end season, neighbors can feel even more isolated. We wanted to offer even a small measure of warmth,” adding,
“As a public corporation rooted in the community, this is simply a role we are meant to fulfill.”
A representative from Haenam Hope Center expressed gratitude, saying,
“The fact that they never forget to visit us each year is a comfort far greater than the donation itself.”
As part of its ESG management efforts, KEPCO MCS Haenam Branch continues to expand partnerships with local welfare institutions, taking the lead in supporting vulnerable groups, volunteer service, and spreading a culture of sharing throughout the community.
True to a company that manages light, their acts of giving may not draw attention—but they illuminate the darkest places first.
There were no grand ceremonies, no loud slogans.
Yet the small light that began at Haenam’s land’s end once again warmed Hope Center’s winter this year.
Through their actions, the Land’s End Light Volunteer Group of KEPCO MCS Haenam Branch has once again proven that
the hands that protect a community are, themselves, the community’s hope.
