“김치 한 통이 마음을 데운다”

해남군장애인종합복지관(관장 김도영)이 본격적인 겨울을 앞두고 지역사회와 손을 맞잡고 총 144박스의 사랑의 김장김치를 장애인 및 취약계층 가정에 전달하며, ‘함께하는 돌봄 공동체’의 따뜻한 모범을 보여주었다.

이번 김장 나눔은
▲ 우양재단 ‘어르신 김장김치 지원사업’ 20박스
▲ 국제로타리3610지구 제10지역 해남로타리클럽 30박스
▲ 복지관 어울림자원봉사단이 직접 담근 80박스
▲ SK 후원 김장김치 14박스 등 민간 후원과 지역 자원이 촘촘히 연계된 의미 있는 협력으로 이뤄졌다.

김장김치를 받은 대상은 장보기 어려움, 이동 제약 등으로 스스로 김장을 준비하기 힘든 읍·면 외곽 취약계층이 우선 선정됐다.

단순한 음식 지원을 넘어, 한 해 동안의 먹거리 걱정을 덜어주는 현실적 복지라는 점에서 그 의미가 더욱 깊다.

특히 복지관 직원과 자원봉사자들은 각 가정을 직접 방문해 김치를 전달하며, “춥지는 않은지, 생활은 괜찮은지” 안부를 묻고 이야기를 나누는 시간을 가졌다.

이날 김치 한 통에는 절인 배추의 무게보다 더 큰, 사람과 사람을 이어주는 온기와 정서적 돌봄이 담겼다.

김도영 해남군장애인종합복지관장은 “김치 한 통이지만 그 속에 담긴 마음이 누군가에게는 겨울을 견디게 하는 힘이 된다.”며 “지역사회와 함께 취약계층과 장애인의 식생활 안정은 물론, 정서적 돌봄이 숨 쉬는 따뜻한 해남을 만들어 가겠다.”고 말했다.

해남군장애인종합복지관은 앞으로도 민간단체와 지역 자원과의 지속적인 협력을 통해 장애인의 삶 가까이에서 실질적인 변화를 만드는 생활밀착형 복지를 실천해 나갈 계획이다.

**“A Single Jar of Kimchi Can Warm the Heart”
Haenam Disability Welfare Center Delivers 144 Boxes of Kimchi to Vulnerable Households Ahead of Winter**
The Haenam Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled (Director Kim Do-young) joined hands with the local community to deliver a total of 144 boxes of kimchi to persons with disabilities and vulnerable households, setting a warm example of a truly caring community as winter approaches.
This year’s kimchi-sharing initiative was made possible through close collaboration among various local partners:
▲ 20 boxes from the Wooyang Foundation’s “Elderly Kimchi Support Project”
▲ 30 boxes donated by the Haenam Rotary Club (Rotary International District 3610, Region 10)
▲ 80 boxes prepared by the Center’s “Eoullim Volunteer Group”
▲ 14 boxes sponsored by SK
Together, these contributions formed a meaningful network of private-sector support and community resources.
Priority recipients included residents living in outlying towns and villages who face mobility challenges or difficulties grocery shopping, making it hard for them to prepare their own kimchi for the winter season.
Beyond simple food support, the initiative served as practical assistance that eases the burden of securing a year’s supply of essential household food.
Center staff and volunteers personally visited each home to deliver the kimchi, taking time to ask, “Are you keeping warm? Are things going well for you?”—offering not only food but also companionship and emotional comfort.
In every jar of kimchi delivered that day was something far greater than salted cabbage—it carried warmth, connection, and the spirit of community care.
Director Kim Do-young stated,
“Even a single jar of kimchi can give someone the strength to endure the winter when it is filled with care and concern. We will continue working with the local community to ensure food security for vulnerable groups and to foster a warm, compassionate Haenam where emotional care thrives.”
The Haenam Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled plans to continue expanding collaborative efforts with civic groups and local organizations, striving to deliver practical, everyday support that truly improves the lives of people with disabilities.
