“추석 앞두고 독감·코로나 증가”…전남광주특별시, 비상방역체계 가동

추석 연휴를 앞두고 인플루엔자와 코로나19 등 호흡기 감염병이 증가하면서 전남광주통합특별시가 비상방역체계를 가동한다.

특히 어린이와 임신부의 인플루엔자 예방접종이 21일부터 시작되는 만큼 대상자들은 연령과 접종 일정 등을 미리 확인할 필요가 있다.

전남광주통합특별시는 추석 연휴 대규모 인구 이동에 따른 호흡기 감염병 확산에 대비해 감염병 감시와 예방접종 등 방역 대응을 강화한다고 밝혔다.

최근 5주간 의원급 의료기관 표본감시 결과 인플루엔자 의사환자 분율이 증가하고 있으며 코로나19 입원환자도 증가세를 보이고 있다.

이에 따라 지난 11일 인플루엔자 유행주의보가 발령됐으며 통합특별시는 연휴 기간 감염병 발생 상황을 집중적으로 살필 방침이다.

■ 어린이·임신부 독감 접종 21일부터
올해 인플루엔자 예방접종 일정도 일부 앞당겨 시행된다.
생후 6개월부터 14세까지 어린이와 임신부는 21일부터 인플루엔자 예방접종을 받을 수 있다. 1회 접종 대상 어린이 역시 같은 날부터 접종이 가능하다.
65세 이상 어르신은 연령에 따라 접종 시작일이 다르다.
75세 이상은 10월 6일부터, 70~74세는 10월 12일부터, 65~69세는 10월 15일부터 각각 접종을 시작한다.
고령층의 경우 접종기관을 방문하기 전에 본인의 연령별 접종 시작일을 확인하는 것이 필요하다.

■ 코로나19도 10월 12일부터 예방접종
코로나19 예방접종 체계도 달라진다.
이번 절기부터 코로나19 예방접종이 필수예방접종으로 전환되면서 65세 이상 어르신과 면역저하자, 감염취약시설 입원·입소자를 대상으로 10월 12일부터 접종을 시작한다.
특히 독감과 코로나19가 동시에 유행할 가능성에 대비해 고령층과 감염취약계층의 적극적인 예방접종이 요구된다.

■ 연휴 기간 방역 대응도 강화한다.
통합특별시는 추석 연휴인 24일부터 27일까지 비상방역대책반을 운영하고 감염병 발생 상황을 지속적으로 감시하는 한편 환자 발생 등에 대비한 신속 대응체계를 유지한다.

연휴 중 예방접종이 가능한 의료기관은 질병관리청 예방접종도우미 누리집에서 확인할 수 있다.

보건당국은 가족·친지 간 만남과 이동이 크게 늘어나는 추석 연휴에는 손 씻기와 기침 예절을 지키고 발열이나 기침 등 호흡기 증상이 있을 경우 사람이 많이 모이는 장소 방문을 자제하는 등 개인 방역수칙을 준수해 달라고 당부했다.

정광선 전남광주통합특별시 보건복지본부장은 “예방접종 일정이 앞당겨진 만큼 혼선 없이 제때 접종을 마치길 바란다.”며 “대규모 이동이 예상되는 연휴 기간에는 올바른 손 씻기와 기침 예절 등 개인 방역수칙을 지켜달라.”고 말했다.

With influenza and COVID-19 cases rising ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the South Jeolla-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City is activating an emergency disease control system to protect residents during the holiday period.
In particular, influenza vaccinations for children and pregnant women will begin on Sept. 21, and eligible residents are advised to check their vaccination schedules in advance.
The South Jeolla-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City announced that it will strengthen infectious disease surveillance, vaccination efforts and other preventive measures in preparation for a potential increase in respiratory infections caused by large-scale travel and family gatherings during Chuseok.
According to sentinel surveillance data from primary medical clinics over the past five weeks, the proportion of patients showing influenza-like symptoms has continued to rise, while the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 has also been increasing.
Following the issuance of an influenza epidemic advisory on Sept. 11, the city has activated its emergency disease control system and plans to closely monitor infectious disease trends throughout the holiday period.
■ Flu Vaccinations for Children and Pregnant Women Begin Sept. 21
This year’s influenza vaccination schedule has been partially moved forward.
Children aged 6 months to 14 years and pregnant women will be eligible for influenza vaccination beginning Sept. 21. Children who require only a single dose will also be able to receive their vaccination from the same date.
For people aged 65 and older, vaccination start dates will vary by age group.
Those aged 75 and older can receive vaccinations beginning Oct. 6, followed by people aged 70–74 from Oct. 12 and those aged 65–69 from Oct. 15.
Older residents are advised to confirm the vaccination start date for their age group before visiting a medical institution.
■ COVID-19 Vaccinations Begin Oct. 12
The COVID-19 vaccination program is also changing this season.
Beginning this season, COVID-19 vaccination will be incorporated into the national routine immunization program. Vaccinations will begin Oct. 12 for people aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals, and patients or residents of facilities considered particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases.
With the possibility of influenza and COVID-19 circulating simultaneously, health authorities are encouraging older adults and other vulnerable groups to receive the recommended vaccinations.
■ Emergency Disease Control Measures Strengthened During Chuseok
The city will operate an emergency disease control team from Sept. 24 to 27 during the Chuseok holiday to continuously monitor infectious disease outbreaks and maintain a rapid-response system in the event of new cases.
Information on medical institutions offering vaccinations during the holiday period is available through the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency’s vaccination information website.
Health authorities urged residents to follow basic preventive measures during Chuseok, when family gatherings and travel are expected to increase significantly. These measures include proper handwashing and cough etiquette, as well as avoiding crowded places when experiencing fever, coughing or other respiratory symptoms.
Jeong Gwang-seon, head of the Health and Welfare Headquarters of the South Jeolla-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City, said, “As the vaccination schedule has been moved forward, we hope eligible residents will check the dates carefully and receive their vaccinations on time.”
He added, “With large-scale travel expected during the holiday period, we ask everyone to follow basic personal preventive measures, including proper handwashing and cough etiquette.”
