“농촌 교통사고 예방, 마을 이장들과 함께합니다”

고령 보행자와 농기계 교통사고 예방을 위해 경찰이 농촌지역 주민들과의 현장 소통 강화에 나섰다.

해남경찰서(서장 박미영) 송지파출소(소장 최복원)는 지난 19일 송지면 마을 이장단을 대상으로 고령 보행자 및 경운기 등 농기계 교통안전교육을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 교육은 농촌지역 도로를 운행하는 차량과 농기계가 적지 않은 데다, 고령 보행자의 무단횡단이나 음주 후 농기계 운행 등으로 인한 교통사고 위험이 지속되고 있는 데 따른 것이다.

송지파출소는 이날 실제 농촌지역에서 발생할 수 있는 보행자 및 농기계 교통사고 사례를 소개하고, 고령 보행자의 안전한 보행 방법과 경운기 등 농기계의 안전운행 요령을 집중적으로 안내했다.

특히 음주 후 농기계 운행은 일반 차량 운전과 마찬가지로 사고 위험을 크게 높일 수 있는 만큼, 농번기 농촌지역에서 발생할 수 있는 각종 교통사고 예방을 위해 주민들의 각별한 주의가 필요하다고 강조했다.

경찰은 마을 이장단을 중심으로 교통안전수칙을 적극 홍보해 고령 주민과 농기계 운전자들의 안전의식을 높이고, 교통사고 위험요인을 사전에 줄여나갈 계획이다.

최복원 송지파출소장은 “각 마을 이장님들과의 소통을 더욱 강화하고 교통사고가 발생하지 않도록 지속적인 교육과 홍보, 단속을 병행하겠다.”며 “주민들이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 안전한 송지면을 만들어 나가겠다.”고 말했다.

Police are stepping up communication with rural residents in the field to prevent traffic accidents involving elderly pedestrians and agricultural machinery.
Haenam Police Station Chief Park Mi-young and Songji Police Substation Chief Choi Bok-won announced that the substation conducted traffic safety education on elderly pedestrians and agricultural machinery, including cultivators, for village leaders in Songji-myeon on the 19th.
The education was organized in response to the continuing risk of traffic accidents in rural areas, where vehicles and agricultural machinery frequently travel on local roads, as well as incidents involving elderly pedestrians jaywalking or operating agricultural machinery after drinking.
During the session, Songji Police Substation introduced examples of pedestrian and agricultural machinery accidents that can occur in rural areas and provided detailed guidance on safe walking practices for elderly pedestrians and safe operating procedures for cultivators and other agricultural machinery.
In particular, police emphasized that operating agricultural machinery after drinking can significantly increase the risk of accidents, just as driving a regular vehicle under the influence does. They urged residents to exercise particular caution to prevent various traffic accidents that may occur in rural areas during the farming season.
Police plan to actively promote traffic safety rules through village leaders, raise safety awareness among elderly residents and agricultural machinery operators, and proactively reduce potential traffic accident risks.
Choi Bok-won, Chief of the Songji Police Substation, said, “We will further strengthen communication with village leaders and continue to conduct education, publicity campaigns and enforcement measures to prevent traffic accidents.” He added, “We will work to create a safe Songji-myeon where residents can live with peace of mind.”
