A fire broke out at a beekeeping greenhouse in Gangjin-eup, Gangjin County, destroying the entire greenhouse and damaging part of a nearby cold-storage facility.

After receiving the emergency call, fire authorities dispatched 10 firefighting vehicles and 30 personnel to the scene. Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames inside the greenhouse while preventing the fire from spreading to the adjacent cold-storage building and other nearby facilities.
The blaze was fully extinguished at approximately 4:16 p.m., about one hour and six minutes after it began. Some reports described the suppression time as one hour and seven minutes, but reports citing fire-authority records placed the completion time at around 4:16 p.m.
The fire completely destroyed one beekeeping greenhouse. Flames and radiant heat also burned part of the neighboring cold-storage facility and scorched its exterior.
No workers or residents were injured because no one was inside the greenhouse or caught in the fire. No injuries among firefighters have been reported.
Based on conditions observed at the scene, fire authorities are investigating the possibility that the fire started near a ventilation fan installed inside the greenhouse. This remains a preliminary assessment and has not been confirmed as the definitive cause.
Investigators must determine through a forensic examination and inspection of the electrical system whether the fire involved an overheated ventilation-fan motor, an electrical short circuit, a poor connection, deteriorated wiring or another electrical fault.
Authorities are also expected to examine whether flammable materials, wooden beehives and beekeeping equipment inside the greenhouse contributed to the spread of the flames.
Publicly available information does not indicate whether the Gangjin Police Station participated in a joint forensic examination. Police have not released a separate statement regarding the cause of the fire or any possible criminal circumstances.
