설 밥상 속 ‘가짜 원산지’ 뿌리 뽑는다

설 명절을 앞두고 전라남도가 농산물 원산지 표시 위반 행위에 대한 대대적인 합동 단속에 나섰다.
도민과 귀성객의 설 밥상을 지키겠다는 강력한 의지다.

전라남도는 오는 9일까지 도내 전통시장과 농산물 판매업소, 음식점 등을 대상으로 농산물 원산지 표시 위반 행위 집중 단속을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

이번 단속은 전남도와 도내 22개 시·군, 국립농산물품질관리원 전남지원이 함께 참여하는 합동 점검으로 진행된다.
전남도는 총 23개 단속반을 투입해 설 성수기 소비가 집중되는 원산지 표시 취약 분야를 집중 점검한다.

중점 점검 대상은 원산지 표시 이행 여부와 표시 방법의 적정성, 원산지 거짓 표시 및 소비자 혼동 유발 행위, 소비자 기만목적의 원산지 표시 훼손·변경, 음식점에서 원산지가 다른 동일 품목을 혼합해 조리·판매하는 행위, 원산지 확인 영수증과 거래명세서 등 증빙서류 비치·보관 여부 등이다.

특히 설 명절을 앞두고 수요가 급증하는 제수용 농산물과 가공식품, 음식점 식재료를 중심으로 단속의 강도를 높일 방침이다.

원산지를 거짓으로 표시하다 적발될 경우 「농수산물의 원산지 표시 등에 관한 법률」에 따라 7년 이하의 징역 또는 1억 원 이하의 벌금에 처해진다.

원산지 미 표시나 표시 방법 위반의 경우에도 1천만 원 이하의 과태료가 부과된다.

또한 거짓 표시로 적발된 업소는 농림축산식품부와 국립농산물품질관리원 누리집을 통해 업소명·주소·위반 내용이 공개되며, 원산지 표시제도 교육 이수 명령도 함께 내려진다.

박상미 전남도 농식품유통과장은 “설을 앞두고 원산지 표시의 신뢰를 지키는 것은 도민 안전과 직결된 문제”라며 “합동 단속을 통해 위반 행위는 엄정히 조치하고, 소비자가 안심하고 농산물을 구매할 수 있는 유통 환경을 만들겠다.”고 강조했다.

전남도는 이번 단속을 통해 명절 특수를 노린 불법 행위를 사전에 차단하고, 공정한 유통 질서 확립에 총력을 기울인다는 방침이다.

Violations Punishable by Up to 7 Years in Prison
Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, Jeollanam-do Province has launched a large-scale joint crackdown on violations of agricultural product country-of-origin labeling.
The move reflects a strong commitment to protecting the safety of holiday food tables for residents and returning travelers.
Jeollanam-do announced that it will conduct intensive inspections of country-of-origin labeling violations at traditional markets, agricultural product retailers, and restaurants across the province through the 9th.
The inspections will be carried out as a joint operation involving Jeonnam Province, all 22 cities and counties, and the Jeonnam branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service.
A total of 23 inspection teams will be deployed, focusing on sectors particularly vulnerable to violations during the Lunar New Year peak shopping season.
Key inspection items include:
Compliance with country-of-origin labeling requirements and proper labeling methods
False origin labeling or practices that may mislead consumers
Deliberate damage to or alteration of origin labels intended to deceive consumers
Mixing products of different origins and cooking or selling them as one item in restaurants
Proper storage and retention of supporting documents such as origin verification receipts and transaction statements
In particular, inspection intensity will be heightened for holiday ceremonial food ingredients, processed agricultural products, and restaurant food supplies, where demand sharply increases during the Lunar New Year period.
Businesses found to have falsely labeled the country of origin will be punished under the Act on Origin Labeling of Agricultural and Fishery Products, facing up to seven years in prison or fines of up to 100 million won.
Even in cases of failure to label or improper labeling, violators may be subject to administrative fines of up to 10 million won.
In addition, businesses caught falsely labeling origins will have their business name, address, and details of the violation publicly disclosed on the websites of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, and will also be ordered to complete mandatory education on the origin labeling system.
Park Sang-mi, Director of the Jeonnam Provincial Agricultural and Food Distribution Division, said,
“Protecting trust in country-of-origin labeling ahead of the Lunar New Year is directly linked to the safety of our residents. Through joint inspections, we will take strict action against violations and do our utmost to create a distribution environment where consumers can purchase agricultural products with confidence.”
Jeonnam Province stated that through this crackdown, it aims to preemptively block illegal practices targeting holiday demand and firmly establish fair distribution order during the Lunar New Year season.
