“정치인에 수사정보 유출 의혹”…완도해경 간부 대기발령

완도해양경찰서 간부가 정치인에게 수사 관련 정보를 유출했다는 의혹으로 대기발령됐다. 서해지방해양경찰청은 관련 감찰의뢰서를 접수하고 사실관계를 확인하고 있다.

목포MBC의 9월 29일 보도에 따르면, 해당 간부는 공무상 비밀누설 등의 의혹으로 지난 28일 대기발령 조치됐다.

서해해경청은 해당 간부가 수사 과정에서 압수수색 영장 신청 사실을 누설하고, 정치인에게 수사 관련 기밀 등을 전달했다는 내용의 감찰의뢰서를 접수했다고 밝혔다. 현재 의뢰 내용의 사실 여부를 확인하는 단계다.

이번 사안의 핵심은 비공개 수사정보가 외부 정치인에게 실제로 전달됐는지, 전달됐다면 어떤 내용이 어떤 경위로 알려졌는지다. 정보 전달이 해당 사건의 수사 진행에 영향을 미쳤는지도 향후 확인이 필요한 쟁점이다.

완도해경은 해당 간부의 대기발령에 따라 당분간 직무대리 체제로 관련 업무를 이어갈 예정이다.

다만 대기발령과 감찰의뢰서 접수가 수사정보 유출 사실의 확정을 의미하는 것은 아니다. 의혹의 사실 여부와 책임 범위는 조사 결과를 통해 가려져야 한다.

9월 30일 오전까지 확인된 공개자료에서는 정보를 전달받았다는 의혹이 제기된 정치인의 신원과 구체적인 해명, 해당 간부의 상세한 반론은 확인되지 않았다. 감찰 결과나 최종 징계 여부 역시 공개적으로 확인되지 않은 상태다.

A senior official at the Wando Coast Guard Station has been placed on standby amid allegations of leaking investigation-related information to a politician. The Korea Coast Guard’s Western Regional Headquarters has received a request for an internal inquiry and is reviewing the facts.
According to a September 29 report by Mokpo MBC, the official was placed on standby on September 28 over allegations including disclosure of official secrets.
The Western Regional Headquarters said it had received an inquiry request alleging that the official disclosed the fact that a search warrant had been applied for during an investigation and passed confidential investigation-related information to a politician. Authorities are currently verifying the allegations.
The central questions are whether nonpublic investigation information was actually shared with an outside politician and, if so, what information was disclosed and under what circumstances. Whether the disclosure affected the investigation also remains to be examined.
Following the personnel action, the Wando Coast Guard Station plans to continue the relevant work under an acting official for the time being.
However, the standby order and receipt of an inquiry request do not establish that a leak occurred. The validity of the allegations and the extent of any responsibility must be determined through the inquiry.
