The Hwasan Police Substation of Haenam Police Station and the Hwasan Agricultural Cooperative have launched a joint awareness campaign urging residents not to collect leftover crops without permission as the harvest season gets underway.
In a press release dated October 2, Haenam Police Station, headed by Chief Park Mi-young, said the Hwasan Police Substation, led by Lee Hong-ju, worked with the Hwasan Agricultural Cooperative, chaired by Oh Sang-jin, to display banners at the cooperative’s produce distribution center, major access roads in Hwasan-myeon, and locations frequently used by residents.
The campaign aims to prevent people from taking crops remaining in fields after harvest without the owner’s consent and to protect the produce farmers have worked hard to grow.
Through the banners, the two organizations highlighted that collecting leftover crops can cause losses for farmers. They urged residents to obtain the owner’s permission before taking any crops, even those left in fields after harvesting has ended.
“Residents’ attention and cooperation are essential to protecting the crops farmers have carefully cultivated during the harvest season,” said Lee Hong-ju, head of the Hwasan Police Substation. “We will continue working with the agricultural cooperative and other relevant organizations to prevent crop theft and create a safe rural environment.”
