추석 명절을 맞아 해남교도소 직원들이 자매결연 마을을 찾아 지원금을 전달하며 지역사회와 함께하는 따뜻한 이웃사랑을 실천했다.

해남교도소(소장 김남진)는 지난 22일 자매결연을 맺고 있는 해남군 옥천면 영안마을을 방문해 이장과 주민들을 만나 안부를 살피고 지원금을 전달했다고 밝혔다.

이번 지원금은 해남교도소 직원들로 구성된 봉사단체인 ‘땅끝봉사단’이 자발적으로 모은 성금으로 마련됐다.

특히 해남교도소의 지역사회 나눔은 일회성 행사에 그치지 않고 2010년부터 꾸준히 이어지고 있다는 점에서 의미를 더하고 있다.

해남교도소는 매년 명절마다 영안마을을 비롯해 지역 사회복지시설 3곳에 지원금을 전달하며 어려운 이웃들이 보다 따뜻한 명절을 보낼 수 있도록 힘을 보태고 있다.

지역 내 도움이 필요한 결손가정 3곳에도 매달 일정 금액의 후원금을 정기적으로 지원하는 등 지속적인 나눔활동을 펼치고 있다.

직원들이 직접 모금에 참여해 마련한 성금을 지역 주민과 어려운 가정에 돌려주면서 교정기관과 지역사회가 함께하는 상생의 의미도 더하고 있다.

영안마을 주민들은 해마다 명절이면 잊지 않고 마을을 찾아오는 해남교도소 직원들에게 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

영안마을 이장과 주민들은 “매년 명절 때마다 마을 주민들을 위해 후원해 주시는 해남교도소 소장님과 직원분들께 늘 감사드린다”고 말했다.

김남진 해남교도소장은 “추석 명절을 맞아 우리 지역사회에 나눔과 기부문화를 확산시키는 데 해남교도소가 앞장서겠다.”고 밝혔다.

해남교도소는 앞으로도 직원들의 자발적인 참여를 바탕으로 지역의 어려운 이웃을 살피고 지역사회와 함께하는 나눔활동을 지속해 나갈 계획이다.

Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, employees of the Haenam Correctional Institution visited a sister village and delivered financial support, continuing their longstanding commitment to sharing warmth and compassion with the local community.
The Haenam Correctional Institution, headed by Director Kim Nam-jin, announced that on September 22, its employees visited Yeongan Village in Okcheon-myeon, Haenam County, a community with which the institution has established a sister-village partnership. They met with the village head and residents, exchanged greetings, and presented financial assistance.
The funds were raised voluntarily by the “Ttangkkeut Volunteer Group,” an organization made up of employees of the Haenam Correctional Institution.
The institution’s community outreach is particularly meaningful because it has continued consistently since 2010 rather than being limited to one-time charitable events.
Every major holiday, the Haenam Correctional Institution provides financial support to Yeongan Village and three social welfare facilities in the region, helping local residents in need enjoy a warmer and more comfortable holiday season.
The institution also provides regular monthly financial assistance to three local families in need, continuing its commitment to sustained community support.
Through voluntary employee contributions and ongoing assistance to local residents and vulnerable households, the institution has also strengthened cooperation and solidarity between the correctional institution and the surrounding community.
Residents of Yeongan Village expressed their appreciation to the employees of the Haenam Correctional Institution for remembering and visiting the village during the holiday season each year.
The village head and residents said, “We are always grateful to Director Kim Nam-jin and the employees of the Haenam Correctional Institution for supporting our village every holiday.”
Director Kim said, “On the occasion of the Chuseok holiday, the Haenam Correctional Institution will take the lead in promoting a culture of sharing and giving throughout our local community.”
The Haenam Correctional Institution plans to continue its community outreach activities, supported by the voluntary participation of its employees, while reaching out to neighbors in need and strengthening its ties with the local community.
