해남 육상 꿈나무들이 전남 무대에서 금메달 14개와 은메달 5개를 쓸어 담으며 초등부 B그룹 종합 우승을 차지했다.
단거리와 중·장거리뿐 아니라 높이뛰기·멀리뛰기·세단뛰기·포환던지기·계주까지 트랙과 필드 전 종목에서 고르게 메달을 따내면서 해남 육상의 탄탄한 선수층과 성장 가능성을 보여줬다는 평가다.
전남광주통합특별시해남교육지원청(교육장 조연주)에 따르면 해남지역 초·중학생 선수 49명은 지난 7일부터 9일까지 여수 망마경기장에서 열린 ‘제36회 교육감기 학년별육상경기대회’에 출전해 금메달 14개, 은메달 5개 등 모두 19개의 메달을 획득했다.
특히 초등부 선수들의 활약이 돋보였다.
해남 선수단은 초등부에서 금메달 7개와 은메달 2개를 획득하며 군 지역 학교들이 경쟁하는 B그룹 종합 우승을 차지했다.
해남동초 최민석 학생은 남초 6학년 100m와 200m를 석권하며 2관왕에 올랐다. 같은 학교 전하리 학생도 여초 6학년 100m와 200m에서 각각 금메달을 차지하며 나란히 2관왕에 이름을 올렸다.
필드 종목에서도 메달 행진이 이어졌다.
해남동초 박다은 학생은 여초 6학년 높이뛰기에서 금메달, 멀리뛰기에서 은메달을 획득했다. 해남서초 이하율 학생은 남초 5학년 높이뛰기에서 금메달을 추가했으며 해남동초 김다진 학생은 남초 5학년 멀리뛰기에서 은메달을 목에 걸었다.
개인 종목뿐 아니라 계주에서도 해남의 저력이 빛났다.
해남서초 이지훈, 해남동초 박다은·최민석·전하리 학생이 함께 출전한 초등 800m 혼성계주에서 금메달을 차지하며 뛰어난 팀워크를 보여줬다.
중등부 선수들도 금메달 7개와 은메달 3개를 추가하며 해남 육상의 경쟁력을 입증했다.
남중부에서는 정유찬(전남체중)이 400m, 윤지후(전남체중)가 멀리뛰기, 김주호(전남체중)가 1,500m, 황채환(전남체중)이 포환던지기에서 각각 금메달을 획득했다.
정용화(해남제일중) 학생도 높이뛰기에서 정상에 올랐다.
여중부에서는 김유리(황산중) 학생이 200m, 김인화(전남체중) 학생이 세단뛰기에서 각각 금메달을 목에 걸었다.
은메달도 이어졌다. 김예지(전남체중)·지은별(전남체중) 학생은 각각 100m에서, 한효은(해남중) 학생은 200m에서 은메달을 획득했다.
이번 대회 성과는 특정 종목에 집중되지 않았다는 점에서도 의미가 크다.
해남 선수들은 100m·200m 등 단거리부터 400m·1,500m 중·장거리, 높이뛰기·멀리뛰기·세단뛰기 등 도약 종목, 포환던지기와 혼성계주까지 육상 전반에서 고르게 입상했다.
특히 초등부 B그룹 종합 우승과 함께 초·중등부에서 총 19개의 메달을 획득하면서 해남지역 학교체육을 기반으로 성장하고 있는 육상 꿈나무들의 가능성을 다시 한번 확인했다.
조연주 교육장은 “학생들이 꾸준히 흘린 땀과 노력이 값진 성과로 이어져 매우 자랑스럽다”며 “우리 학생들이 자신의 재능과 가능성을 발견하고 더 큰 무대에 도전할 수 있도록 학교와 함께 체육 인재 발굴과 성장을 적극 지원하겠다.”고 말했다.
해남교육지원청은 앞으로 학교체육 활성화를 통해 육상 꿈나무를 조기에 발굴하고 학생들이 자신의 소질과 재능을 마음껏 펼칠 수 있도록 체육교육 환경 조성과 선수 육성 지원을 지속할 계획이다.

Haenam’s young track and field athletes delivered an outstanding performance on the Jeonnam stage, winning 14 gold and five silver medals and claiming the overall championship in the elementary school B Group.
The athletes earned medals across a wide range of track and field events, including sprints, middle- and long-distance races, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put and relay events, demonstrating both the depth of Haenam’s athletics program and the strong potential of its young athletes.
According to the Haenam Office of Education, headed by Superintendent Cho Yeon-ju, a total of 49 elementary and middle school athletes from Haenam competed in the 36th Superintendent’s Cup Track and Field Championships by Grade, held from September 7 to 9 at Mangma Stadium in Yeosu.
The Haenam team captured a total of 19 medals—14 gold and five silver.
The elementary school athletes were particularly impressive, winning seven gold and two silver medals to secure the overall championship in the B Group, which consists of schools from county-level regions.
Choi Min-seok of Haenam Dong Elementary School won gold in both the boys’ sixth-grade 100m and 200m events, becoming a double champion.
His schoolmate Jeon Ha-ri also claimed two gold medals, sweeping the girls’ sixth-grade 100m and 200m events.
Haenam athletes also excelled in field events.
Park Da-eun of Haenam Dong Elementary School won gold in the girls’ sixth-grade high jump and silver in the long jump. Lee Ha-yul of Haenam Seo Elementary School added another gold medal in the boys’ fifth-grade high jump, while Kim Da-jin of Haenam Dong Elementary School took silver in the boys’ fifth-grade long jump.
Haenam’s strength was also evident in the relay.
Lee Ji-hoon of Haenam Seo Elementary School joined Park Da-eun, Choi Min-seok and Jeon Ha-ri of Haenam Dong Elementary School to win gold in the elementary mixed 800m relay, demonstrating excellent teamwork.
The middle school athletes also delivered strong performances, adding seven gold and three silver medals.
In the boys’ middle school division, Jeong Yu-chan of Jeonnam Physical Education Middle School won gold in the 400m, Yoon Ji-hoo took gold in the long jump, Kim Ju-ho won the 1,500m, and Hwang Chae-hwan claimed the shot put title.
Jeong Yong-hwa of Haenam Jeil Middle School also topped the podium in the high jump.
In the girls’ middle school division, Kim Yu-ri of Hwangsan Middle School won gold in the 200m, while Kim In-hwa of Jeonnam Physical Education Middle School captured gold in the triple jump.
Silver medals were also added by Kim Ye-ji and Ji Eun-byeol of Jeonnam Physical Education Middle School in the 100m, and Han Hyo-eun of Haenam Middle School in the 200m.
One of the most notable aspects of Haenam’s performance was the broad range of events in which its athletes earned medals.
From the 100m and 200m sprints to the 400m and 1,500m races, as well as the high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put and mixed relay, Haenam athletes demonstrated competitive strength across nearly every area of track and field.
With the elementary team winning the overall B-Group championship and the elementary and middle school athletes collecting 19 medals in total, the competition highlighted the growing strength and future potential of young athletes being developed through Haenam’s school sports programs.
“I am extremely proud that the students’ consistent hard work and dedication have resulted in such valuable achievements,” Superintendent Cho Yeon-ju said.
“We will continue to work closely with schools to actively identify and nurture talented young athletes so that our students can discover their abilities and potential and challenge themselves on even bigger stages.”
The Haenam Office of Education plans to continue promoting school sports, identifying promising young track and field athletes at an early stage, and creating a supportive physical education environment in which students can fully develop and demonstrate their talents.
