해남 삼산면에서 주민들이 자발적으로 참여하는 ‘기부릴레이’가 이어지고 있는 가운데 오영동 좋은밥상 대표가 31호 주자로 참여해 지역사회에 따뜻한 나눔을 실천했다.

특히 이번 기부는 일회성 후원보다는 오 대표가 오랜 기간 지역에서 이어온 봉사와 나눔 활동의 연장선이라는 점에서 눈길을 끈다.

실제로 과거 지역언론 보도를 확인한 결과 오 대표는 삼산면 어려운 이웃을 위한 성금 기탁에 지속적으로 참여해 왔다.

해남신문은 2023년 1월 오영동 좋은주유소 대표가 삼산면에 어려운 이웃을 위한 성금 100만원을 전달했다고 보도했다. 당시 삼산면에서는 의용소방대와 청년회 등 지역단체들의 기부도 잇따르면서 주민 주도의 나눔문화가 확산됐다.

■ 장애인 복지를 위한 활동도 꾸준히 이어왔다.
해남우리신문은 2023년 오 대표가 해남군장애인복지관 후원단체인 ‘나눔도반’ 회장을 맡아 장애인을 위한 후원활동을 펼쳐왔으며, 그 공로로 보건복지부 장관 표창을 받았다고 보도했다.

당시 보도에 따르면 나눔도반 회원들과 성금을 모아 장애인 직업재활사업장에서 사용할 차량을 마련해 전달했으며, 장애인복지관 비품 구입비 지원과 함께 매년 복지관 이용자 150여 명에게 식사를 제공하는 활동에도 참여했다.

2014년 해남지역에 기록적인 폭설이 내렸을 당시 오 대표는 자신이 운영하던 업체의 굴삭기 5대와 덤프트럭 4대를 직접 제설작업에 투입했다.
당시 해남읍 아파트단지와 주요 도로뿐 아니라 장애인들의 눈길 안전사고를 막기 위해 해남군장애인복지관과 주변 도로까지 제설작업을 벌인 것으로 보도됐다.

■ 지역 청소년을 위한 봉사도 이어졌다.
직장·공장새마을운동 해남군협의회장을 맡았던 당시에는 지역아동들을 위한 행사에서 회원들과 함께 컵라면과 음료 등을 무료로 제공하는 봉사활동에 참여했으며, 해남중학교 체육행사에서도 학생들에게 간식과 음료를 제공하는 활동을 펼쳤다.

2026년 7월 법무부 해남보호관찰소가 실시한 보호관찰위원 전문화교육에는 오영동 회장이 이끄는 해남보호관찰소협의회 소속 보호관찰위원 23명이 참석했다. 협의회는 지역사회 범죄예방과 보호관찰 대상자의 건전한 사회복귀를 지원하는 민간 봉사 역할을 수행하고 있다.

이처럼 장애인과 청소년, 취약계층 지원에서부터 재난현장 제설, 범죄예방 활동까지 오랜 기간 다양한 분야에서 이어진 봉사활동은 이번 삼산면 기부릴레이 참여의 의미를 더하고 있다.

지역사회에서 기부의 가치는 액수만으로 평가하기 어렵다. 한 차례의 후원보다 자신이 생활하는 지역에서 도움이 필요한 사람들을 지속적으로 살피고, 필요한 순간에 직접 행동하는 것이 지역공동체를 유지하는 힘이기 때문이다.

As residents of Samsan-myeon, Haenam County, continue their voluntary “Donation Relay,” Oh Young-dong, head of Good Bapsang, has joined as the 31st participant, adding another chapter to the community’s ongoing culture of sharing.
The Samsan-myeon Donation Relay is a community-based initiative designed to encourage voluntary participation by local residents, address gaps in the welfare system, and provide practical assistance to neighbors in need.
Through his participation in the relay, Oh reportedly made a donation to support vulnerable residents and help address welfare blind spots in the community.
What makes his latest contribution particularly noteworthy is that it is not an isolated act of giving, but part of a longstanding record of volunteer work and community support.
Previous reports by local media show that Oh has consistently donated to help disadvantaged residents of Samsan-myeon.
In January 2023, the Haenam Shinmun reported that Oh Young-dong, head of Good Gas Station, donated 1 million won to Samsan-myeon for residents in need. At the time, donations from local organizations, including the volunteer fire brigade and youth association, also helped expand a resident-led culture of sharing.

Oh has also maintained a sustained commitment to improving the welfare of people with disabilities.
In 2023, Haenam Woori Shinmun reported that Oh, while serving as chairman of “Nanum Doban,” a support organization for the Haenam Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities, had carried out various support activities for people with disabilities. In recognition of these efforts, he received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.
According to the report, Oh and members of Nanum Doban raised funds to provide a vehicle for a vocational rehabilitation facility for people with disabilities.
They also supported the purchase of equipment and supplies for the welfare center and took part in providing meals each year to approximately 150 people using the center.
■ His Volunteer Work for People with Disabilities Goes Back Even Further
During record-breaking heavy snowfall in Haenam in 2014, Oh mobilized five excavators and four dump trucks from his business to assist with snow removal.
Reports at the time said the equipment was deployed not only to apartment complexes and major roads in Haenam-eup but also to the Haenam Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities and surrounding roads to help prevent accidents involving people with disabilities on snow-covered and icy streets.
■ His Volunteer Efforts Have Also Reached Local Youth
While serving as chairman of the Haenam County Council of the Workplace and Factory Saemaul Movement, Oh participated with fellow members in community events for local children, providing free cup noodles and beverages.
He also supported students at a sporting event at Haenam Middle School by providing snacks and drinks.
His community involvement has extended to crime prevention and efforts to help probationers successfully reintegrate into society.
In July 2026, 23 volunteer probation officers from the Haenam Probation Office Council, led by Chairman Oh Young-dong, participated in specialized training organized by the Ministry of Justice’s Haenam Probation Office.
The council serves as a civilian volunteer organization supporting community crime prevention and helping probationers return to society in a stable and constructive manner.
Oh’s latest participation in the Samsan-myeon Donation Relay therefore carries added significance, reflecting years of volunteer work across a broad range of areas—from supporting people with disabilities, young people and vulnerable residents to disaster response and crime prevention.
