가로등이 부족해 밤길 통행에 불안을 느끼던 해남 황산면 마을 골목길에 태양광을 이용한 ‘솔라안심등’이 설치됐다.

해남경찰서(서장 박미영) 황산파출소(소장 정주완)는 지난 19일 황산면사무소와 황산면 복지기동대, 마을 이장 등과 함께 주민들의 안전한 야간 귀갓길 조성을 위한 ‘안심 귀갓길 솔라안심등’ 설치 활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 활동은 경찰이 단독으로 방범시설을 설치하는 방식에서 벗어나 행정기관과 지역단체, 마을 주민들이 직접 취약지역을 확인하고 필요한 장소를 선정해 안전시설을 설치했다는 데 의미가 있다.

참석자들은 가로등 시설이 부족하거나 야간 보행환경이 어두워 범죄와 안전사고 우려가 있는 마을 골목길과 주택가 등을 직접 살폈다.

이어 야간에 사람의 움직임을 감지하면 불이 켜지는 태양광 충전식 센서등인 ‘솔라안심등’을 주택 벽면과 골목길 취약지 등에 설치했다.

솔라안심등은 별도의 전력 공급 없이 낮 동안 태양광으로 충전해 야간에 작동할 수 있어 가로등 설치가 쉽지 않은 농촌지역 골목길의 어두운 공간을 보완하는 데 활용된다.

특히 안심등 하단에는 ‘이곳은 안심 귀갓길입니다’​라는 문구와 함께 ‘긴급신고 112 / 여성 긴급전화 1366’ 안내를 표시해 주민들에게 심리적 안정감을 주고 범죄예방 효과를 높이도록 했다.

황산파출소는 앞으로도 주민들의 의견을 직접 듣고 야간 보행 취약지역과 범죄 우려지역을 지속적으로 발굴해 지역 특성에 맞는 방범시설 설치와 순찰 활동을 이어갈 계획이다.

정주완 황산파출소장은 “황산면 복지기동대 등 지역단체와 긴밀하게 협력해 주민들이 피부로 느낄 수 있는 안전한 황산면을 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다.”며 “앞으로도 현장에서 주민 의견을 청취해 필요한 곳에 맞춤형 치안활동을 지속적으로 펼쳐 나가겠다.”고 말했다.

Solar-powered safety lights have been installed in dark village alleys in Hwangsan-myeon, Haenam, where insufficient street lighting has made nighttime walking a concern for local residents.
The Hwangsan Police Substation of Haenam Police Station, headed by Chief Jeong Ju-wan under Police Chief Park Mi-young, said it carried out a joint public-private project on August 19 with the Hwangsan-myeon Office, the local Welfare Support Team, and village leaders to create safer routes home for residents at night.
The initiative is significant because it went beyond a police-led installation project. Local government officials, community organizations, and village representatives jointly inspected vulnerable areas, identified locations in need of safety improvements, and participated directly in installing the equipment.
Participants examined village alleys, residential areas, and other locations where street lighting is insufficient or where poor nighttime visibility could increase the risk of crime or accidents.
They then installed solar-powered motion-sensor lights, known as “Solar Safety Lights,” on residential walls and at vulnerable points along dark alleys. The lights automatically switch on when they detect movement at night.
Because the devices are charged by sunlight during the day and operate without a separate electricity supply, they can help illuminate dark areas in rural communities where installing conventional streetlights may be difficult.
Each safety light also carries the message, “This is a Safe Route Home,” along with the emergency numbers 112 and the Women’s Emergency Hotline 1366, aimed at providing pedestrians with a greater sense of security while also helping deter potential crime.
The Hwangsan Police Substation plans to continue listening to residents, identifying areas vulnerable to nighttime pedestrian accidents and crime, and expanding crime-prevention facilities and patrols tailored to local conditions.
Chief Jeong Ju-wan said, “Through close cooperation with local organizations, including the Hwangsan-myeon Welfare Support Team, we will do our utmost to make Hwangsan-myeon a safer community that residents can genuinely feel in their daily lives.”
He added, “We will continue to listen to residents in the field and carry out customized policing activities where they are needed most.”
