A fire broke out at a computer-parts storage warehouse located in a residential neighborhood in Jindo-eup, Jindo County, destroying the entire building.
No residents or warehouse workers were injured because no one was inside at the time. However, one firefighter who took part in the suppression operation suffered symptoms of dehydration and received hospital treatment.
According to reports from the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Fire Headquarters, Mokpo MBC and other news outlets, the fire broke out at a warehouse in Dongoe-ri, Jindo-eup, at approximately 11:07 a.m. on July 29.
Mokpo MBC reported that the fire occurred at around 11:05 a.m., while other news organizations citing fire authorities said the emergency call was received at 11:07 a.m. At this stage, 11:07 a.m.—the time recorded by the fire authorities—is considered the more appropriate official reference.
The building was reportedly used to store computer components, printer toner and related supplies. Fire authorities dispatched 11 vehicles and 33 personnel after receiving the emergency call.
Firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby homes while battling the blaze inside and around the warehouse. The fire was fully extinguished at approximately 11:36 a.m., 29 minutes after the call was received.
The warehouse and the computer parts and printer toner stored inside were completely destroyed. No civilians were injured because the building was unoccupied when the fire broke out.
One firefighter working in extreme heat developed symptoms of dehydration and was taken to a hospital for treatment. No official information has yet been released regarding the firefighter’s detailed condition or whether the firefighter has since been discharged.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Mokpo MBC described it as a fire of unknown origin, while fire authorities said they were investigating the exact point of ignition, the cause and the extent of the property damage.
