더불어민주당 명현관 해남군수 후보가 공식 선거운동 중반전인 28일 북일면을 시작으로 삼산·옥천·계곡·마산·산이면 등 6개 면을 순회하며 민생 현장 중심의 광폭 유세를 펼쳤다.

명 후보는 최근 중동발 이란 사태에 따른 국제유가 상승과 고물가 여파로 어려움을 겪고 있는 농어민과 자영업자들을 만나 현장의 목소리를 청취하고, 지방정부 차원의 실질적인 민생 안정 대책을 제시했다.

이날 유세는 서울 서대문구 서소문 고가도로 철거 공사현장에서 발생한 붕괴 사고 희생자들을 애도하는 뜻을 담아 차분하고 절제된 분위기 속에서 진행됐다. 명 후보와 선거운동원들은 확성기 사용을 최소화한 채 장터와 상가, 마을 곳곳을 직접 걸으며 군민들과 소통하는 데 집중했다.

명 후보는 “궂은 날씨 속에서도 생업의 현장을 지키고 계신 군민 여러분을 보며 더욱 무거운 책임감을 느낀다.”며 “소란스러운 선거보다 군민 삶을 먼저 생각하는 진정성 있는 정책으로 다가가겠다.”고 말했다.
특히 북일좌일시장 집중 유세에서는 군의원 라선거구(북평·북일·송지)에 출마한 더불어민주당 한종천 후보와 김영환 후보에 대한 지지를 호소했다.

명 후보는 “해남의 민생 현안을 해결하고 농어촌수도 해남 비전을 완성하기 위해서는 군민과 함께 뛰는 유능한 군의원이 반드시 필요하다”며 “검증된 일꾼인 한종천·김영환 후보를 반드시 당선시켜 민주당 원팀의 힘을 보여달라.”고 강조했다.

명 후보는 고유가로 어려움을 겪는 농가 지원 대책도 제시했다. 그는 농업용 면세유와 농기계 연료비 부담 완화를 위한 군비 지원 방안을 적극 추진하겠다고 밝히며, 에너지 비용 상승에 대응하는 농업 경쟁력 강화 정책을 설명했다.

또한 해남 미래 성장전략인 ‘농어촌수도 해남’ 구상을 다시 한번 강조하며 스마트 농어업과 신재생에너지 기반 산업 육성 비전을 제시했다.
명 후보는 “고유가 시대일수록 첨단기술을 활용한 스마트 농어업 전환이 더욱 중요하다”며 “국가 AI 컴퓨팅센터 유치를 기반으로 데이터 중심의 에너지 절감형 스마트팜을 확대하고, RE100 산업단지와 친환경 에너지 인프라 구축을 통해 해남 경제의 체질을 근본적으로 혁신하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

이어 “농어업과 첨단산업, 재생에너지가 공존하는 지속가능한 미래형 지역 모델을 구축해 해남을 대한민국 농어촌 발전의 새로운 표준으로 만들겠다.”고 덧붙였다.

한편 명 후보는 오는 29일부터 30일까지 실시되는 제9회 전국동시지방선거 사전투표 참여를 적극 독려했다.

명 후보는 “이번 선거는 해남의 미래를 결정하는 매우 중요한 선택”이라며 “가까운 사전투표소를 찾아 해남의 대도약과 발전을 이끌 민주당 원팀 후보들에게 힘을 모아 달라”고 호소했다.

Myung Hyun-gwan, the Democratic Party candidate for Haenam County Governor, carried out an extensive grassroots campaign focused on local livelihoods on May 28, visiting six townships—Bukil, Samsan, Okcheon, Gyegok, Masan, and Sani—as the election campaign entered its midpoint.
During the tour, Candidate Myung met with farmers, fishermen, merchants, and self-employed residents who have been struggling under rising fuel costs and inflation, exacerbated by tensions surrounding the Iran crisis in the Middle East. He listened to local concerns and presented practical measures that local government could implement to stabilize people's livelihoods.
The campaign was conducted in a restrained and respectful atmosphere in remembrance of the victims of the collapse accident at the Seosomun Overpass demolition site in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. Candidate Myung and his campaign team minimized the use of loudspeakers and instead walked through markets, commercial districts, and village streets to engage directly with residents.
“Seeing residents continuing to work hard despite the bad weather makes me feel an even greater sense of responsibility,” Myung said. “Rather than engaging in noisy political campaigns, I want to communicate through sincere policies that put people’s lives first.”
At a major campaign event held at Bukil Jwail Market, Myung also urged support for Democratic Party county council candidates Han Jong-cheon and Kim Young-hwan, who are running in Constituency Ra (Bukpyeong, Bukil, and Songji).
“To resolve Haenam’s livelihood challenges and realize our vision of making Haenam the capital of rural and fishing communities, we need capable county council members who will work alongside residents,” he said. “Please help elect Han Jong-cheon and Kim Young-hwan so that we can demonstrate the strength of the Democratic Party’s one-team leadership.”
Candidate Myung also unveiled support measures for farmers affected by rising fuel prices. He pledged to actively pursue county-level assistance programs aimed at reducing the burden of tax-exempt agricultural fuel and fuel costs for farming machinery, while strengthening the competitiveness of the agricultural sector against escalating energy expenses.
He further reiterated his long-term vision of transforming Haenam into a leading “Rural and Fishing Community Capital” through smart agriculture and renewable-energy-based industries.
“In an era of high oil prices, transitioning to smart agriculture powered by advanced technologies has become more important than ever,” Myung stated. “By leveraging the National AI Computing Center that we successfully attracted to the region, we will expand data-driven, energy-efficient smart farms and accelerate the establishment of RE100 industrial complexes and renewable-energy infrastructure to fundamentally transform Haenam’s economic structure.”
He added, “We will build a sustainable regional model where agriculture, advanced industries, and renewable energy coexist, making Haenam a new national standard for rural development in South Korea.”
Meanwhile, Candidate Myung strongly encouraged residents to participate in early voting for the 9th Nationwide Local Elections, scheduled for May 29 and 30.
“This election is a critical turning point that will determine Haenam’s future,” he said. “I urge residents to visit their nearest early voting station and lend their support to the Democratic Party one-team candidates who are committed to leading Haenam toward a new era of growth and development.”
