전남 해남에서 기존의 틀을 깨는 새로운 형태의 마라톤이 열린다.
단순한 체육행사를 넘어 자연과 환경, 그리고 도시의 미래 비전을 함께 담아낸 ‘경험형 플랫폼’이라는 점에서 주목된다.
해남 산이면에 위치한 산이정원은 오는 4월 12일 ‘산이정원 ESG 페스티벌’의 핵심 프로그램으로 「산이정원 ESG RACE STEP 마라톤 대회」를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 자연 속에서 달리며 환경의 가치를 체험하는 ESG 참여형 프로그램으로 기획됐다.
이번 마라톤은 기존 도심 중심의 러닝 이벤트와는 분명한 차별성을 갖는다.
참가자들은 아스팔트 도로 대신 숲길과 정원 코스를 따라 달리게 되며, 봄꽃이 피어나는 자연 속에서 보다 쾌적하고 감성적인 러닝 경험을 누릴 수 있다.
경쟁보다는 경험, 기록보다는 가치에 초점을 맞춘 것이 특징이다.
대회는 총 3개 코스로 운영된다.
10km 코스는 산이정원 외곽 자연 경관을 따라 구성된 중장거리 코스로, 러닝 마니아들을 위한 도전형 코스다.
5km 코스는 일반 참가자 누구나 부담 없이 참여할 수 있는 건강 러닝 프로그램으로 마련됐다.
특히 2km 가족 마라톤은 2인 이상 가족이 함께 참여하는 형태로 운영되며, 어린이부터 성인까지 모두가 함께 즐길 수 있는 생활형 스포츠 프로그램으로 구성됐다.
참가 규모는 총 1,000명으로 제한되며, 선착순 접수를 통해 참여할 수 있다.
접수는 3월 3일부터 3월 27일까지 산이정원 홈페이지를 통해 진행된다.
참가비는 10km 4만 원, 5km 2만 원, 2km 가족 마라톤은 2인 기준 4만 원이며, 참가자에게는 기념품과 완주 메달, 기록 측정 서비스가 제공된다.
이번 행사는 BS한양 수자인의 후원으로 진행되며, 현장에서는 솔라시도 ‘첫 마을주택’ 프로젝트 홍보도 함께 이루어진다.
이는 단순한 스포츠 이벤트를 넘어 지역 개발 전략과 연계된 복합형 행사라는 점에서 의미를 더한다.
솔라시도는 해남 산이면 일대를 중심으로 조성 중인 미래형 복합 도시로, AI와 에너지 산업, 주거, 관광, 정원 문화가 결합된 새로운 도시 모델이다.
특히 첫 마을주택은 자연과 도시가 공존하는 정주형 주거단지로 계획되어 있으며, 향후 대규모 인구 유입과 지역 성장의 출발점이 될 핵심 프로젝트로 평가된다.
이번 마라톤은 이러한 솔라시도 비전을 직접 체험할 수 있는 장으로 작용한다.
참가자들은 단순히 달리는 것을 넘어, 자연과 에너지, 주거가 결합된 미래 도시의 방향성을 몸으로 느끼는 경험을 하게 된다.
산이정원 관계자는 “이번 대회는 자연과 정원을 배경으로 ESG 가치를 함께 실천하는 행사”라며 “봄꽃이 만개한 정원 속에서 가족과 친구, 러너들이 함께하는 특별한 시간이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
한편 산이정원은 마라톤 대회와 함께 ESG 페스티벌, 100년 정원 만들기 프로젝트, 다양한 정원 체험 프로그램을 연계 운영할 계획이다.
이를 통해 단순 방문을 넘어 체류형 관광과 가치 소비를 결합한 새로운 지역 모델을 제시하겠다는 전략이다.
해남은 지금 ‘보는 도시’에서 ‘경험하는 도시’로, 그리고 ‘사는 도시’로 변화하고 있다. 이번 산이정원 마라톤은 그 변화의 방향을 가장 직관적으로 보여주는 상징적 이벤트가 될 것으로 기대된다.

A new type of marathon that breaks away from conventional formats is set to take place in Haenam, Jeollanam-do.
More than just a sporting event, it is drawing attention as an “experiential platform” that integrates nature, environmental values, and a vision for the future of cities.
Sani Garden, located in Sani-myeon, Haenam, announced that it will host the “Sani Garden ESG RACE STEP Marathon” on April 12 as a key program of the Sani Garden ESG Festival.
The event is designed as a participatory ESG program where runners can experience environmental values while running through nature.
Unlike traditional city marathons, this race offers a distinctly different experience.
Participants will run along forest trails and garden paths instead of asphalt roads, enjoying a more pleasant and emotional running experience surrounded by blooming spring flowers.
The focus is not on competition, but on experience—not on records, but on values.
The race will feature three categories.
The 10km course is a mid- to long-distance route that follows the natural landscape surrounding Sani Garden, designed for more experienced runners seeking a challenge.
The 5km course is a casual health-oriented run that anyone can join without 부담.
In particular, the 2km family marathon is designed for teams of two or more family members, offering a lifestyle-oriented sports program that can be enjoyed by participants of all ages, from children to adults.
The event will be limited to 1,000 participants and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration will be open from March 3 to March 27 through the Sani Garden website.
Participation fees are set at KRW 40,000 for the 10km course, KRW 20,000 for the 5km course, and KRW 40,000 for the 2km family marathon (for two participants).
All participants will receive souvenirs, finisher medals, and official time-recording services.
The event is sponsored by BS Hanyang Sujain, and an on-site promotion of the Solar City “First Village Housing” project will also take place.
This highlights the event’s significance as more than just a sports activity, but as a comprehensive initiative linked to regional development strategies.
Solar City, being developed in the Sani-myeon area of Haenam, is a future-oriented complex city model that integrates AI and energy industries with residential, tourism, and garden culture.
The “First Village Housing” project, in particular, represents a nature-friendly residential complex and is considered a key starting point for future population inflow and regional growth.
This marathon serves as a platform where participants can directly experience the vision of Solar City.
Beyond simply running, participants will engage with a future urban model where nature, energy, and living environments are seamlessly integrated.
A representative from Sani Garden stated,
“This marathon is not just a sporting event, but a platform to practice ESG values in a natural garden setting.
It will offer a special experience where families, friends, and runners can enjoy the beauty of spring blossoms together.”
Meanwhile, Sani Garden plans to operate various programs alongside the marathon, including the ESG Festival, the “100-Year Garden Project,” and hands-on garden experiences.
Through these initiatives, it aims to present a new regional model that combines experiential tourism with value-driven consumption.
Haenam is now transforming—from a city to be seen, to a city to be experienced, and ultimately to a city to live in.
This marathon is expected to serve as a symbolic event that most clearly demonstrates the direction of that transformation.
