전남과 광주의 미래 100년을 설계할 민간 정책 플랫폼이 공식 출범했다.
‘전남광주비전100년포럼’ 출범식이 3월 8일 오후 2시 광주 김대중컨벤션센터 4층 컨벤션홀에서 열려 학계와 산업계, 시민사회 전문가들이 대거 참여한 가운데 성황리에 마무리됐다.
이번 포럼은 전남·광주 통합 시대를 앞두고 지역의 장기 성장 전략과 미래 산업 비전을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.
특히 AI·반도체·에너지·수산업 등 핵심 산업과 도시공간, 안전, 돌봄 정책까지 아우르는 종합 발전 전략이 제시되며 큰 관심을 모았다.
“100년을 준비하는 새로운 플랫폼”
이날 포럼은 성장전략·균형전략·지속가능전략·시민참여전략 등 4대 전략을 중심으로 전남·광주의 미래 발전 방향을 논의하는 자리로 진행됐다.
참석자들은 전남·광주가 수도권 집중과 지방소멸 위기를 동시에 극복하기 위해서는 산업 혁신과 시민 참여가 결합된 새로운 발전 모델이 필요하다는 데 의견을 모았다.
특히 인공지능과 반도체, 재생에너지 산업을 중심으로 한 미래 산업 전략이 핵심 의제로 다뤄졌다.
AI·에너지·수산… 미래 산업 전략 집중 논의
포럼에서는 각 분야 전문가들이 참여해 전남·광주 발전을 위한 구체적인 전략을 제시했다.

국지윤 한국열린유아교육학회 이사 – 돌봄과 사회 복지 정책 등이 참여해 다양한 정책 제안을 발표했다.
발표자들은 공통적으로 “전남과 광주가 대한민국 남부권 혁신 성장의 중심축이 돼야 한다.”며 산업과 도시 정책을 결합한 장기 전략의 필요성을 강조했다.
“전남·광주 통합시대, 시민이 만드는 미래”
이번 포럼은 단순한 학술 행사에 그치지 않고 시민 참여 기반의 정책 플랫폼으로 발전시키겠다는 목표도 제시됐다.
포럼 관계자는 “전남과 광주의 미래는 행정만으로 만들 수 없다”며 “산업·학계·시민이 함께 참여하는 정책 네트워크를 통해 새로운 100년 비전을 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
“지금은 남부권 대전환의 시간”
전남·광주 통합특별시 출범이 가시화되는 가운데 이번 포럼은 지역 미래 전략을 민간 차원에서 논의한 첫 대규모 행사라는 점에서 의미가 크다는 평가다.
특히 인공지능과 에너지, 반도체, 해양수산 산업 등 남부권 핵심 전략 산업을 중심으로 한 새로운 성장 모델이 제시되며 전남·광주의 장기 발전 방향에 대한 기대감을 높였다.
전문가들은 “지금은 전남과 광주가 대한민국 남부권 혁신 성장의 중심으로 도약할 역사적 기회”라며 “산업·도시·복지 정책이 결합된 100년 비전을 만들어야 한다.”고 강조했다.

A new private policy platform aimed at designing the next 100 years for Jeonnam Province and Gwangju has officially been launched.
The “Jeonnam–Gwangju Vision 100 Forum” inauguration ceremony was held on March 8 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Convention Hall on the 4th floor of the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju.
The event concluded successfully with the participation of experts from academia, industry, and civil society.
The forum was organized to discuss long-term growth strategies and future industrial visions for the region ahead of the expected Jeonnam–Gwangju metropolitan integration era.
In particular, comprehensive development strategies were presented, covering key industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and fisheries, as well as policies related to urban space, safety, and social care.
A New Platform Preparing for the Next Century
The forum centered on four key strategies:
Growth Strategy, Balanced Development Strategy, Sustainability Strategy, and Citizen Participation Strategy.
Participants agreed that in order for Jeonnam and Gwangju to overcome the twin challenges of capital region concentration and regional depopulation, a new development model combining industrial innovation and civic participation is essential.
Future industrial strategies centered on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and renewable energy were particularly highlighted as core agendas.
Focus on Future Industries: AI, Energy, and Fisheries
During the forum, experts from various fields presented concrete strategies for the development of Jeonnam and Gwangju.

Ji-yoon Kook, Board Member of the Korean Open Early Childhood Education Association – Care and social welfare policies
Through these presentations, various policy proposals were introduced.
Speakers commonly emphasized that Jeonnam and Gwangju must emerge as the central axis of innovation-driven growth in southern Korea, stressing the need for long-term strategies integrating industrial development and urban policy.
A Citizen-Driven Future for the Jeonnam–Gwangju Integration Era
The forum also set a goal of evolving beyond a simple academic gathering into a citizen-participation-based policy platform.
A forum representative stated,
“The future of Jeonnam and Gwangju cannot be built by government alone.
Through a policy network involving industry, academia, and citizens, we will create a new vision for the next 100 years.”
“Now Is the Time for a Southern Korea Transformation”
With the launch of the Jeonnam–Gwangju Integrated Metropolitan City becoming increasingly realistic, the forum is seen as significant as the first large-scale event where regional future strategies were discussed from a civil society perspective.
In particular, a new growth model centered on key strategic industries of southern Korea — including AI, energy, semiconductors, and marine industries — was proposed, raising expectations for the long-term development direction of the region.
Experts emphasized,
“This is a historic opportunity for Jeonnam and Gwangju to leap forward as the center of innovation-driven growth in southern Korea.
A 100-year vision integrating industry, urban policy, and social welfare must now be established.”
