배움의 기쁨과 노래의 감동이 하나로 어우러진 무대가 진도에서 펼쳐졌다.

진도군 치매안심마을 어르신들로 구성된 ‘은빛실버합창단’이 지난 11일(화), 진도군청 대회의실에서 열린 ‘제11회 군민한글학교 백일장’에서 아름다운 합창 공연을 선보였다.

이번 공연은 진도군보건소 치매안심센터가 운영하는 치매안심마을 프로그램의 일환으로, 어르신들이 치매예방교실에서 갈고닦은 합창 실력을 선보이는 자리였다.

지난해에 이어 올해도 무대에 오른 합창단은 ‘섬 집 아기’와 ‘모두 다 꽃이야’를 부르며 따뜻한 목소리로 청중의 마음을 울렸다.

무대에 오른 어르신들의 얼굴에는 설렘과 자부심이 함께 묻어났다.

오랜 세월을 살아온 이들이지만 새로운 도전에 주저하지 않았고, 배움과 예술을 통해 삶의 활력을 되찾았다.

관객석에는 군민한글학교 수강생과 가족, 마을 주민 등 200여 명이 함께 자리해 어르신들의 노래에 아낌없는 박수와 응원을 보냈다.

진도군 관계자는 “이번 공연은 어르신들이 배움의 즐거움을 느끼고, 주민들과 정을 나누는 소중한 시간이었다.”며 “앞으로도 치매 예방과 정서적 안정을 돕는 다양한 프로그램을 지속적으로 추진하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
한편, 진도군 치매안심센터는 치매 조기검진과 인지 강화활동, 가족지원 프로그램 등을 운영하며 어르신들의 건강한 노후를 돕고 있다. 또한 지역 주민이 함께 참여하는 치매 친화 공동체 조성 사업을 통해, 누구나 존중받으며 살아갈 수 있는 따뜻한 마을 만들기에 앞장서고 있다.
이번 ‘은빛실버합창단’의 무대는 단순한 공연을 넘어, 배움의 열정과 도전이 만들어낸 감동의 이야기로 오래도록 기억될 것이다.

“A Touching Harmony Born from ‘Island Baby’”
Jindo Silver Choir Fills the Stage with Learning and Passion
A stage where the joy of learning and the emotion of music came together beautifully was held in Jindo.
The “Silver Choir”, composed of seniors from Jindo’s Dementia-Friendly Village, delivered a heartfelt choral performance on Tuesday, November 11, at the 11th Jindo County Korean Language School Writing Contest held in the Jindo County Office Auditorium.
The performance was part of a dementia-prevention village program operated by the Jindo County Health Center’s Dementia Relief Center, where the participating seniors showcased the singing skills they had honed through dementia-prevention classes.
Following last year’s appearance, the choir once again took the stage this year, performing “Island Baby (Seomjip Aegi)” and “Everyone Is a Flower” with warm, resonant voices that deeply moved the audience.
The faces of the elderly singers glowed with both excitement and pride. Though they have lived through long years, they did not shy away from new challenges — instead, they regained vitality through learning and the arts.
More than 200 people, including Korean Language School participants, their families, and local residents, filled the hall, offering enthusiastic applause and cheers for the seniors’ performance.
A Jindo County official said,
“This performance was a meaningful time for the elderly to feel the joy of learning and share warmth with their neighbors. We will continue to promote various programs that help prevent dementia and support emotional well-being.”
Meanwhile, the Jindo County Dementia Relief Center provides early dementia screenings, cognitive training activities, and family support programs to help seniors lead healthy lives. The center also strives to create a “dementia-friendly community” in which all residents understand and support each other, building a warm and inclusive village for all.
The Silver Choir’s performance was more than just a concert—it was a moving story of perseverance, passion, and the power of lifelong learning that will long be remembered in Jindo.
