진도군은 지난 8일 오후 2시 진돗개 테마파크 국화축제장에서 전통 명주 ‘진도홍주’를 현대적 감각으로 재해석한 체험형 축제 ‘진도홍주 하이볼 페스타’를 관광객과 군민의 뜨거운 참여 속에 성황리에 개최했다.
이번 행사는 전통과 현대의 조화를 통해 진도홍주의 새로운 소비문화를 조성하고, 젊은 세대가 함께 즐길 수 있는 축제를 목표로 마련됐다.

축제는 (사)진도군관광협의회가 주관했다.
행사장에는 진도홍주 기반 하이볼 바, DJ 음악 공연, 벼룩시장, 체험 프로그램 등 다양한 참여형 공간이 운영됐다.
특히 홍주 칵테일 만들기 체험, 홍주의 역사·제조 과정을 소개하는 홍주 역사관, 붉은빛 홍주를 배경으로 한 포토존 등이 가족과 연인·친구 단위 방문객들에게 큰 호응을 얻었다.
가장 큰 관심을 모은 것은 진도홍주의 붉은빛과 향미를 강조한 ‘시그니처 하이볼’이었다.
청년층 취향에 맞게 가볍고 산뜻한 풍미로 구성해 인기를 끌었으며, 술을 마시지 않는 방문객을 위한 논 알코올 칵테일 메뉴도 함께 제공되어 남녀노소 누구나 축제를 즐길 수 있도록 했다.
먹거리 부스에서는 진도 출신 청년들이 운영하는 전복튀김, 전복카츠, 홍주 초콜릿 등이 판매되어 지역 특산물의 다양한 매력을 알리는 데 기여했다.
또한 축제 컨셉에 맞춰 빨간색 의상을 착용한 방문객에게는 진도 기념 굿즈가 증정되어 현장 분위기를 더욱 뜨겁게 했다.
무대 공연은 통기타 버스킹과 국악 연주로 시작해 EDM과 K-POP 공연으로 이어지며, 전통 감성과 현대적 젊은 감각을 모두 담은 공연 구성을 선보였다.
진도군 관계자는 “이번 축제는 진도홍주가 가진 전통의 깊이를 지키면서도, 젊은 세대가 쉽게 즐길 수 있도록 새롭게 접근한 의미 있는 시도였다”며, “앞으로도 진도만의 색깔이 살아있는 문화·관광 콘텐츠를 지속적으로 발굴해 지역 관광 경쟁력을 강화해 나가겠다.”고 말했다.

“Jindo Hongju Meets Youth!” ‘Jindo Hongju Highball Festa’ Held with Great Success
Jindo County successfully hosted the “Jindo Hongju Highball Festa” on the afternoon of the 8th at the Jindo Dog Theme Park Chrysanthemum Festival grounds, attracting enthusiastic participation from tourists and local residents. The event reinterpreted Jindo Hongju, a traditional distilled spirit, with a modern and trendy twist, creating an experiential festival that appeals to younger generations.
The festival aimed to promote a new consumption culture for Jindo Hongju by blending tradition with contemporary tastes, encouraging intergenerational enjoyment. The event was organized by the Jindo Tourism Association.
The festival venue featured various interactive spaces, including a Hongju highball bar, DJ live music stage, flea market, and hands-on activity zones. In particular, Hongju cocktail-making experiences, an exhibition on the history and production of Hongju, and a signature red-themed photo zone drew strong interest from families, couples, and friends.
The highlight of the event was the “Signature Highball”, designed to showcase Hongju’s distinctive reddish hue and aroma. Tailored to the preferences of younger consumers, it offered a light and refreshing flavor profile. Non-alcoholic versions were also available, allowing visitors of all ages to participate and enjoy.
At the food booths, local young entrepreneurs served dishes such as crispy abalone, abalone cutlets, and Hongju chocolates, further promoting the appeal of Jindo’s regional specialties. In addition, guests wearing red clothing, matching the festival’s theme, received special Jindo merchandise, enhancing the lively atmosphere.
Performances ranged from acoustic guitar and traditional Korean music to EDM and K-POP, delivering a dynamic program that harmonized classic charm with modern energy.
A Jindo County official stated, “This festival was a meaningful effort to preserve the depth of tradition in Jindo Hongju while presenting it in a fresh, youth-friendly way. We will continue to develop cultural and tourism programs that showcase Jindo’s unique identity and enhance the region’s competitiveness as a destination.”
