진도군이 전라남도교육청과 함께 지역 맞춤형 교육 혁신을 추진하며 미래 인재 육성에 박차를 가한다.
진도군은 지난 11월 5일 진도실내체육관에서 열린 ‘2025 보배섬 진도 글로컬 교육축전’ 행사장에서 전라남도 교육자치협력지구 운영 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
협약식에는 김희수 진도군수, 김대중 전라남도교육감, 박금례 진도군의회의장과 군의원, 교육청 관계자, 학부모, 학생 등 지역 주요 인사가 참석했다.
이번 협약은 지역사회와 학교가 함께 성장하는 지속 가능한 교육 생태계 구축을 목표로 한다.
협약의 주요 내용은 교육 발전과 지역교육 활성화를 위한 상호 협력, 교육자치협력지구 사업에 대한 행·재정적 지원, 지역 인재 육성 프로그램 공동 추진 등이며, 2026년부터 2029년까지 4년간 유효하다.
김희수 군수는 “민선 8기 군정 방침인 ‘인재를 키우는 교육’을 실현하기 위해 장학사업과 교육경비 예산을 대폭 확대하고 있다.”며, “교육청과 긴밀히 협력해 학생들이 마음껏 꿈을 펼칠 수 있는 교육 환경을 조성하겠다.”고 말했다.
이어 “진도는 대몽항쟁과 명량대첩의 역사를 품은 호국의 땅으로, 학생들이 지역에 대한 자긍심과 도전 정신으로 미래를 이끌어가길 바란다.”고 강조했다.
이번 협약은 진도군과 진도교육지원청이 함께 추진 중인 ‘교육발전특구 시범사업’과 연계돼 지역 맞춤형 교육혁신을 앞당길 것으로 기대된다.
지역 맞춤형 프로그램과 지속적인 지원을 통해 진도군이 미래 인재 육성의 선도 지자체로 자리매김할 수 있을지 주목된다.

Jindo County and Jeonnam Office of Education Join Forces to Launch Era of Educational Autonomy for Nurturing Future Talent
Jindo County is stepping up efforts to foster future talent by implementing locally tailored educational innovations in partnership with the Jeollanam-do Office of Education.
On November 5, at the ‘2025 Bobaesom Jindo Glocal Education Festival’ held at the Jindo Indoor Gymnasium, Jindo County signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Operation of the Jeollanam-do Educational Autonomy Cooperation District with the Jeollanam-do Office of Education.
The signing ceremony was attended by key local figures, including Jindo County Mayor Kim Hee-su, Jeollanam-do Superintendent of Education Kim Dae-jung, Jindo County Council Chairperson Park Geum-rye, county council members, education office officials, parents, and students.
The agreement aims to build a sustainable educational ecosystem in which the local community and schools grow together.
Key points of the MOU include mutual cooperation to promote educational development and regional educational vitality, administrative and financial support for the Educational Autonomy Cooperation District initiatives, and joint implementation of programs to nurture local talent. The agreement is set to be effective for four years, from 2026 to 2029.
Mayor Kim Hee-su stated, “To realize the administration’s ‘Education that Nurtures Talent’ policy of the 8th term, we are significantly expanding scholarship programs and the education budget. Through close cooperation with the education office, we aim to create an educational environment where students can freely pursue their dreams.”
He added, “Jindo is a land of national defense history, home to the Great Mongol Resistance and the Battle of Myeongnyang. We hope our students will lead the future with pride in their region and a spirit of challenge.”
The agreement is expected to accelerate locally customized educational innovation in connection with the ‘Educational Development Special Zone Pilot Project’ being jointly promoted by Jindo County and the Jindo Office of Education.
With tailored local programs and ongoing support, attention is focused on whether Jindo County can establish itself as a leading municipality in nurturing future talent.
