“군민이 하나 되어 미래를 열다!” 제50회 진도군민의 날 성황리 개최
진도군은 지난 11월 1일부터 2일까지 진도공설운동장에서 ‘제50회 진도군민의 날’ 기념식과 체육대회를 성황리에 개최하며, 군민 화합과 지역 도약의 의지를 확인했다.
이번 행사는 군민 모두가 한마음으로 소통하고 화합하는 자리로 마련되었으며, 50년의 역사를 되돌아보는 동시에 새로운 도약과 발전을 다짐하는 뜻깊은 시간으로 진행됐다.
행사 첫날 열린 기념식에는 읍면 선수단과 각급 기관·단체, 향우회원 등 약 1,300명이 참석했으며, 7개 읍면의 특색을 담은 입장식으로 축제의 시작을 알렸다.
식전 공연에서는 ‘원더우먼스팀’의 건강 체조와 ‘진도군립민속예술단’의 진도아리랑이 분위기를 한층 고조시켰다.
특히, ‘진도강강술래보존회’에서 300명이 선보인 대규모 강강술래 공연은 군민들의 자긍심을 높였다.
아울러 고(故) 백포 곽남백 화백이 군민의 상을 수상했으며, 지역사회 발전에 헌신한 31명이 군수 표창을 받으며 공로를 인정받았다.
이어진 2일간의 군민 체육대회에서는 7개 읍면 선수단이 참가해 육상, 축구, 배구, 족구, 배드민턴, 탁구 등 총 16개 종목에서 열띤 경쟁을 펼쳤다.
특히 줄다리기 경기는 선수와 응원단이 하나 되어 협력과 화합의 참모습을 보여주었다.

대회 결과 종합성적 1위는 의신면, 2위 진도읍, 3위 군내면이 차지했으며, 화합상은 임회면, 응원상 고군면, 모범상 지산면, 성취상 조도면이 수상했다.
조규철 진도군체육회장은 “승패를 떠나 군민 모두가 함께 뭉쳐 화합을 보여줬다.”며, “앞으로도 군민이 함께 즐기는 건강한 체육문화를 확산하겠다.”고 말했다.
김희수 진도군수는 “제50회 군민의 날은 군민이 함께 이뤄온 진도의 성장을 기념하고, 새로운 도약을 약속하는 뜻깊은 자리였다”며, “군민 모두가 한마음으로 힘을 모아 행복하고 살기 좋은 진도를 만들어가겠다.”고 강조했다.

“Residents Unite to Open the Future!” 50th Jindo County Residents’ Day Successfully Held
Jindo County held the 50th Jindo County Residents’ Day celebration and sports festival at the Jindo Public Stadium from November 1 to 2, successfully demonstrating the residents’ unity and commitment to regional progress.
The event provided an opportunity for all residents to communicate and come together as one, reflecting on 50 years of history while reaffirming a commitment to new growth and development.
The opening ceremony on the first day was attended by approximately 1,300 participants, including representatives from each township, local organizations, and alumni. The ceremony began with a parade showcasing the unique characteristics of the seven townships, marking the start of the festival.
Preliminary performances included a health exercise routine by the “Wonder Women Team” and a lively rendition of the Jindo Arirang by the Jindo County Folk Arts Troupe, raising the festive spirit. Notably, a large-scale Ganggangsullae performance by 300 members of the Jindo Ganggangsullae Preservation Society inspired pride among the residents.
In addition, the late Baekpo Kwak Nam-baek, a distinguished artist, was posthumously awarded the Residents’ Award, and 31 individuals who contributed to the development of the local community received commendations from the county governor.
Over the following two days, the Residents’ Sports Festival featured 16 events, including athletics, soccer, volleyball, jokgu, badminton, and table tennis, with teams from seven townships competing vigorously. The tug-of-war, in particular, exemplified cooperation and unity as athletes and supporters worked together.
The final results saw Uisin Township in first place, Jindo-eup in second, and Gunnae Township in third. Harmony Award went to Imhoe Township, Cheering Award to Gogeun Township, Model Award to Jisan Township, and Achievement Award to Jodo Township.
Jo Gyu-chul, President of the Jindo County Sports Association, said, “Regardless of the outcome, residents came together to showcase unity and harmony. We will continue to promote a healthy sports culture that all residents can enjoy.”
Kim Hee-su, Governor of Jindo County, stated, “The 50th Residents’ Day commemorates the growth achieved together by the residents and marks a promise of new progress. By uniting our efforts, we will build a happy and livable Jindo.”
