전라남도해남교육지원청(교육장 조연주)은 11월 4일 해남글로컬교육센터에서 ‘해남글로컬교육센터 수업 나눔의 날’을 개최했다.
이번 행사에는 해남 관내 초·중·고 교감, 영어 업무 담당 교사, 영어 원어민 보조교사 등 24명이 참석해 지역 영어교육의 발전 방향을 함께 모색했다.
이번 행사는 총 3부로 진행됐다.
1부에서는 전라남도교육청 국제교육원과 협력해 영어 원어민 보조교사 복무 관련 연수와 개별 협의회가 열렸다.
동시에 중학교 교감과 영어 담당 교사들을 대상으로 ‘중등 영어 프로그램 구상 협의회’가 진행되어, 글로컬교육센터의 역할 강화, 중등 대상 실효성 있는 영어 프로그램 구상, 학교 현장의 영어교육 개선 방안 등을 주제로 활발한 논의가 이어졌다.
2부에서는 해남동초등학교 4학년 8반 학생 19명이 참여한 「글로컬 교육(3DAY)」 프로그램 1회차 공개수업이 진행됐다.
수업은 놀이와 체험 중심으로 설계돼 학생들이 스스로 움직이며 질문하고 답하는 참여형 영어수업으로 이뤄졌다.
원어민 보조교사들은 학생 중심 수업을 참관하며 교수·학습법 개선과 교사-학생 간 상호작용 방법을 공유하는 계기를 마련했다.
이 수업은 향후 해남지역에서 원어민 교사를 효과적으로 활용한 영어교육 모델로 주목받고 있다.
3부에서는 초·중·고 교감, 영어 담당 교사, 원어민 보조교사들이 한자리에 모여 ‘수업 나눔 협의회’를 가졌다.
참가자들은 공개수업의 운영 방식과 교수법, 센터 프로그램 개선 방향 등에 대해 깊이 있는 의견을 교환하며 실질적인 영어수업 혁신 방안을 논의했다.
해남동초 원어민 보조교사 Gabriella 교사는 “학생들이 영어로 생각하고 표현하는 모습이 인상 깊었다.”며 “참여 중심 수업 방식을 내 수업에도 적용해 학생들이 더 자연스럽게 영어를 사용할 수 있는 환경을 만들고 싶다”고 소감을 전했다.
조연주 교육장은 “이번 수업 나눔의 날은 교사와 학생이 함께 배우고 성장하는 뜻깊은 자리였다.”며 “해남글로컬교육센터를 중심으로 지역과 세계를 잇는(glocal) 영어교육을 확대하고, 학교 현장의 의견을 반영한 실효성 있는 영어교육이 이루어질 수 있도록 지속 지원하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
이어 “앞으로도 교원의 영어수업 전문성 강화와 지역 공동체 연계형 이중 언어 교육을 확대해 학생들이 세계시민으로 성장할 수 있는 기반을 다져 나가겠다.”고 덧붙였다.

Haenam Glocal Education Center Hosts ‘Lesson Sharing Day’ — A Platform for Innovation in English Education
— School vice principals, English teachers, and native English-speaking assistant teachers share classroom models and best practices —
The Jeollanam-do Haenam Office of Education (Director Jo Yeon-joo) held the “Lesson Sharing Day” event at the Haenam Glocal Education Center on November 4.
A total of 24 participants, including vice principals, English department heads, and native English-speaking assistant teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools in Haenam, attended the event to discuss strategies for advancing local English education.
The program consisted of three sessions.
In Session 1, the center collaborated with the Jeollanam-do Office of Education’s International Education Institute to conduct a training and individual consultation session regarding the roles and duties of native English-speaking assistant teachers. At the same time, a Middle School English Program Planning Meeting was held for vice principals and English teachers. Participants actively discussed ways to strengthen the role of the Glocal Education Center, design effective English programs for middle school students, and improve the overall quality of English education in local schools.
Session 2 featured an open class of the “Glocal Education (3DAY)” program, with 19 fourth-grade students from Haenam-dong Elementary School’s Class 8 taking part. The class was designed around activity-based and experiential learning, encouraging students to move, ask questions, and respond in English through games and interactive activities. Native assistant teachers who observed the class reflected on teaching strategies that promote active student engagement and interaction between teachers and learners. The class was highly regarded as a meaningful model for utilizing native English teachers more effectively in local English education.
In Session 3, vice principals, English teachers, and native assistant teachers gathered for a Lesson Sharing Discussion. Participants shared detailed feedback on the open class, teaching methods, and the overall operation of the Glocal Education Center, exchanging practical ideas for improving classroom instruction.
Gabriella, a native assistant teacher from Haenam-dong Elementary School, commented,
“Watching today’s class reminded me how capable students are of thinking and expressing themselves in English. I was especially inspired by the student-centered approach and hope to apply it in my own lessons to create a more natural English-learning environment.”
Director Jo Yeon-joo stated,
“This Lesson Sharing Day was a meaningful occasion where both teachers and students learned and grew together. We will continue to expand English education that connects the local community with the world through the Haenam Glocal Education Center, while supporting effective, field-oriented English learning based on the needs of our schools.”
She added,
“Going forward, we will strengthen teachers’ English teaching competencies and expand bilingual education linked with local communities, building a strong foundation for our students to grow as global citizens.”
