(재)장보고장학회(이사장 신우철)는 지난 10월 28일 완도군청 대회의실에서 학부모와 학생 등 36명이 참석한 가운데 ‘2025년도 하반기 장학생 장학증서 수여식’을 열었다.

이번 수여식에서는 관내 고등학교 출신을 대상으로 한 ‘장보고 장학생’과 성적 우수자 및 취약계층의 중·고·대학생을 대상으로 한 ‘지역 인재 육성 장학생’ 등 총 148명에게 약 1억 원의 장학금이 지급됐다.

세부적으로는 ‘장보고 장학금’ 3명에게 1,365만 원, ‘지역 인재 육성 장학금’ 43명에게 3,830만 원이 전달됐다.

장보고장학회는 올해에만 18개 장학 사업을 통해 총 21억 7,600만 원을 지원하며 지역 교육 환경 개선과 인재 양성에 앞장서고 있다.

신우철 이사장은 이날 수여식에서 “장학금을 받은 학생들이 지역민과 향우들이 보내준 따뜻한 마음을 잊지 말고, 지역과 나라를 이끄는 인재로 성장하길 바란다.”고 격려의 말을 전했다.

2007년 설립된 (재)장보고장학회는 지금까지 194억여 원의 장학기금을 조성했으며, 올해만 1,622명에게 6억 600만 원의 장학금을 지급하는 등 지역 사회의 든든한 교육 버팀목 역할을 하고 있다.

“Local Talent is the Future!” — Jang Bogo Scholarship Foundation Holds 2025 Fall Semester Scholarship Award Ceremony
The Jang Bogo Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Shin Woo-cheol) held the “2025 Fall Semester Scholarship Award Ceremony” on October 28 at the Wando County Office’s main conference hall, with 36 students and parents in attendance.
At the ceremony, scholarships were awarded to local high school graduates under the “Jang Bogo Scholarship” category, as well as to outstanding and underprivileged middle, high, and university students selected as “Local Talent Development Scholars.” A total of 148 students received approximately 100 million KRW in scholarships.
Specifically, the Jang Bogo Scholarship was granted to three students, totaling 13.65 million KRW, while the Local Talent Development Scholarship was awarded to 43 students, totaling 38.3 million KRW.
This year alone, the Foundation has supported 2.176 billion KRW across 18 scholarship programs, leading initiatives to improve educational environments and nurture local talent.
Chairman Shin Woo-cheol remarked, “I hope all scholarship recipients remember the heartfelt support of local residents and hometown supporters, and grow into individuals who will lead both the community and the nation.”
Established in 2007, the Jang Bogo Scholarship Foundation has built up a scholarship fund exceeding 19.4 billion KRW to date. In 2025 alone, the Foundation awarded 606 million KRW to 1,622 students, serving as a steadfast pillar of educational support within the local community.
