해남교육지원청(교육장 조연주)은 인송문학촌 토문재(촌장 박병두)와 협력해 지역 독서·인문교육 활성화를 위한 ‘작가 멘토링 프로그램’을 10월 22일부터 본격 운영하고 있다.
이번 프로그램은 지난 9월 양 기관이 체결한 업무협약의 첫 실행 사업으로, 해남제일중학교(교장 윤영구) 자율동아리 ‘글빛 스튜디오’ 학생 6명이 참여한다.
총 8회기로 구성된 멘토링은 독서→글쓰기→창작→출판→전시로 이어지는 전 과정형 문학 프로젝트로 진행되며, 학생들이 자신의 이야기를 직접 한 권의 책으로 완성해보는 데 목표를 두고 있다.
첫 회기에는 박병두 촌장이 멘토로 참여해 ‘글로 마음을 비추는 일’을 주제로 작가로서의 삶과 창작의 의미를 학생들과 공유했다.
이후에는 아동문학가, 시인, 수필가, 여행 작가 등 다양한 분야의 문학인들이 차례로 참여해, 학생들이 문학적 시야를 넓히고 글로 자신을 표현하는 힘을 기를 수 있도록 지도할 예정이다.
참여 학생들은 “내 경험도 한 편의 글이 될 수 있다는 걸 알게 됐다”,
“직접 책을 출판한다는 상상을 하니 설렌다.” 며 기대감을 나타냈다.
조연주 교육장은 “지역 작가가 함께하는 창작 과정 자체가 학생들에게 큰 배움”이라며, “학교 안에서 학생들의 글이 출판과 전시로 이어지는 문화를 정착시켜 독서와 글쓰기가 생활 속 문화로 자리 잡도록 적극 지원하겠다.”고 말했다.
해남교육지원청과 인송문학촌 토문재는 앞으로도 지역 청소년들과 함께 문학적 감수성을 키우는 프로그램을 지속적으로 펼치고, 해남의 문화자원을 기반으로 한 학생 창작 생태계를 더욱 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

From Books to Life, from Writing to the World… Haenam Students Begin Their Literary Journey with Local Authors
The Haenam Office of Education (Director Cho Yeon-ju) has launched a Writer Mentoring Program in cooperation with the Insong Literature Village “Tomunjae” (Village Chief Park Byung-doo), beginning on October 22, to promote regional reading and humanities education.
This program is the first practical initiative following the business agreement signed between the two organizations in September. Six students from the autonomous literature club “Geulbit Studio” at Haenam Jeil Middle School (Principal Yoon Young-goo) are participating.
The mentoring consists of eight sessions and is designed as a full-process literary project—reading → writing → creation → publishing → exhibition. The goal is to guide students in completing their own written works and ultimately producing them as a published book.
In the first session, Village Chief Park Byung-doo served as a mentor, sharing his experiences under the theme “Reflecting the Heart Through Writing,” and discussing the meaning of creativity and a writer’s life.
In the coming sessions, children’s authors, poets, essayists, and travel writers will take part as mentors, helping students broaden their literary perspectives and develop the ability to express themselves through writing.
Participating students expressed excitement, saying,
“I realized that my own experiences can become a story worth writing,” and
“The idea of creating a book and sharing it with the world makes me excited.”
Director Cho Yeon-ju stated, “This program is a valuable opportunity for students to learn by creating alongside local writers. We will continue supporting schools so that students’ writings can naturally lead to publishing and exhibition, allowing reading and writing to become part of everyday culture.”
The Haenam Office of Education and Insong Literature Village plan to continue fostering literary sensibility among local youth and expand a student-centered creative ecosystem rooted in Haenam’s cultural assets.
