세계문화유산을 찾은 관광객들조차 “아름다운 풍경보다 쓰레기와 전선이 먼저 보인다”며 실망감을 드러낸다.
특히 주요 거리와 세계문화유산 대흥사의 산책로, 송지면 갈두리, 산이면 등 방치된 생활쓰레기와 뒤엉킨 전선이 흉물처럼 늘어서 있어
관광지의 품격을 크게 떨어뜨리고 있다.
주민과 방문객들은 “관광도시의 얼굴이 부끄럽다”며
행정당국에 근본적인 환경정비와 전선 지중화 대책을 강력히 촉구하고 있다.

Downtown Haenam and its popular tourist attractions are suffering from piles of trash and a tangle of overhead wires.
Even visitors to the World Cultural Heritage sites express disappointment, saying,
“The garbage and messy power lines catch the eye before the beautiful scenery does.”
In particular, major streets are lined with neglected household waste and unsightly wires,
seriously undermining the dignity of these tourist destinations.
Residents and visitors alike say, “We are ashamed of the face of our tourist city,”
and are strongly urging the local authorities to implement fundamental environmental clean-up measures and to move the power lines underground.
