해남군이 중장년층에서 발생 빈도가 높은 갑상선암과 전립선암의 조기 발견을 위해 9월 22일부터 10월 2일까지 무료검진을 실시한다.
갑상선암은 국내 여성에게서 가장 흔히 발생하는 암으로, 조기 발견 시 완치율이 90% 이상으로 알려져 있다.
전립선암 역시 고령화에 따라 발병률이 꾸준히 증가하고 있으나 초기에는 뚜렷한 증상이 없어 정기검진이 특히 중요하다.
이번 무료검진은 갑상선암의 경우 40세 이상 여성, 전립선암은 50세 이상 남성을 대상으로 하며, 해남군 보건소와 보건지소, 보건진료소에서 받을 수 있다.
검진은 혈액검사 중심의 1차 검사로 진행되며, 이상 소견이 발견될 경우 2차 정밀검사로 연계된다.
군은 검사 결과 이상이 있는 대상자에게는 2차 검진 안내를 통해 조기 치료를 지원하고, 재가암 환자 등록 등 방문건강관리사업과 연계해 지속적인 관리가 이루어지도록 할 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “암 조기 발견이 최선의 치료”라며 “군민들께서 적극적으로 검진에 참여해 건강한 삶을 이어가시길 바란다.”고 전했다.

Haenam County Offers Free Thyroid and Prostate Cancer Screening for Middle-Aged and Older Adults
Free screenings available at public health centers for women aged 40 and above and men aged 50 and above
Haenam County will provide free screenings from September 22 to October 2 to facilitate early detection of thyroid and prostate cancers, which are common among middle-aged and older adults.
Thyroid cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer among women in Korea, and early detection can lead to a cure rate of over 90%.
Prostate cancer incidence is also steadily increasing with population aging, but early-stage symptoms are often minimal, making regular check-ups particularly important.
The free screening targets women aged 40 and older for thyroid cancer and men aged 50 and older for prostate cancer, and will be available at Haenam County public health centers, branch health centers, and health clinics.
The screening will begin with a primary blood test, and individuals with abnormal findings will be referred for a secondary detailed examination.
The county will provide guidance for the secondary examination to those with abnormal results to support early treatment, and connect them with home-based cancer patient registration and health management programs for ongoing care.
A county official stated, “Early detection is the best treatment for cancer. We hope residents actively participate in these screenings to maintain a healthy life.”
