완도소방서(서장 이민석)가 지난 8월 7일부터 9월 5일까지 한 달간 관내 화재취약계층 주택 236가구를 대상으로 화재예방 집중점검 및 지원 활동을 마무리했다.
이번 활동은 최근 부산 아파트 화재로 아동이 사망한 사고를 계기로 추진됐으며, 특히 도서지역 등 취약가구를 우선 발굴해 화재 위험 요인을 사전에 차단하는 데 주력했다.
주요 점검 내용은 누전차단 멀티탭·소화패치 등 화재예방 물품 지원, 전기·가스 안전 점검, 화재위험요인 제거, 소화기 사용법 및 119 신고요령 교육 등이다.
특히 복지기동대와 의용소방대가 협업해 주택 내부 위험 요소를 세밀히 확인하고, 거동이 불편한 어르신 가구에는 물품 정리와 설치까지 지원하는 맞춤형 서비스를 제공해 실질적인 도움을 더했다.
이민석 완도소방서장은 “이번 집중점검으로 지역 내 화재취약가구의 안전 수준을 한층 강화할 수 있었다.”며 “앞으로도 민·관이 협력해 안전 사각지대를 해소해 나가겠다.”고 밝혔다.

Wando Fire Station Completes Intensive Fire Safety Inspections of 236 Vulnerable Households
― Customized safety support in collaboration with the Welfare Mobile Unit and Volunteer Fire Brigade ―
Wando Fire Station (Chief Lee Min-seok) has completed a month-long fire prevention inspection and support campaign, targeting 236 households living in fire-prone homes within the county from August 7 to September 5.
The campaign was launched in response to a recent tragic apartment fire in Busan that claimed the life of a child. Taking into account the unique circumstances of the region, the fire station prioritized identifying vulnerable households in island communities and focused on eliminating fire hazards in advance.
Key activities included the provision of fire prevention supplies such as circuit breaker multi-taps and fire-suppression patches, inspections of electrical and gas safety, removal of potential fire hazards, as well as education on fire extinguisher use and emergency reporting procedures (dialing 119).
In particular, the Welfare Mobile Unit and Volunteer Fire Brigade worked together to carefully examine risk factors inside homes. They also provided tailored services, such as organizing and installing equipment for elderly residents with mobility difficulties, thereby delivering practical assistance.
Chief Lee Min-seok of Wando Fire Station stated, “Through this intensive inspection, we were able to significantly strengthen the safety of vulnerable households in the region,” adding, “We will continue to eliminate blind spots in safety through ongoing preventive measures in cooperation with both the public and private sectors.”
