완도군이 중국 후베이성 우한시·적벽시와의 문화 관광 교류 활성화를 위해 발 빠르게 나섰다.
지난 9월 5일, 완도군은 중국에서 한복·한식 홍보 대사로 활동 중인 이채경 씨를 군 홍보 대사로 위촉했다.
이채경 홍보 대사는 하성주 우한 총영사의 배우자로, 현재 중국에서 적벽시 홍보 대사로도 활동하며 한중 문화 교류의 가교 역할을 하고 있다.
적벽시는 삼국지의 ‘적벽대전’ 유래지로 잘 알려져 있으며, 장강을 배경으로 온천과 차(茶) 문화가 발달한 대표적인 힐링 도시다.
특히, 정부가 9월 29일부터 내년 6월 30일까지 중국 단체 관광객 대상 무비자 입국을 허용함에 따라, 완도군은 이번 홍보 대사 위촉을 계기로 중국 관광객 유치에 큰 기대를 걸고 있다.
앞으로 이채경 홍보 대사 일행은 중국 5성급 여행사를 통해 기업 인사와 관광객을 완도로 초청할 계획이다.
이번 위촉에 맞춰 2박 3일 일정으로 완도를 찾은 이채경 홍보 대사와 일행은 완도의 주요 문화유적과 관광지를 둘러보고 전복 따기 체험 등 다양한 프로그램을 즐겼다.
특히 고금면 묘당도 이충무공 유적지를 방문해 이순신 장군과 명나라 진린 장군의 우정을 확인하며 완도와 중국의 역사적 인연에 공감했다.
또한 완도해양치유센터에서 해양치유 프로그램을 직접 체험하고, 기후치유센터에서 요가와 황톳길 걷기, 문화치유센터에서 전복 김밥 만들기 등을 즐기며 완도의 매력을 몸소 느꼈다.
이채경 홍보 대사는 “해양자원을 활용한 치유 프로그램이 참 이색적이었고, 완도를 알릴 수 있는 자원이 많아 놀랐다.”며 “홍보 대사로서 중국 관광객 유치에 도움이 될 수 있도록 완도를 적극 알리겠다.”고 소감을 전했다.
신우철 완도군수는 “앞으로도 더욱 활발한 한중 교류를 통해 완도의 해양치유 관광이 중국에도 널리 알려지길 바란다.”며 “많은 분들이 완도에서 몸과 마음의 건강을 회복하길 기대한다.”고 밝혔다.

Chibi City Ambassador from Hubei Province Promotes Marine Healing in Wando!
― Accelerating Korea–China cultural and tourism exchange… Boosting Chinese tourist inflow ―
Wando County is stepping up efforts to revitalize cultural and tourism exchanges with Wuhan and Chibi in Hubei Province, China.
On September 5, Wando County appointed Lee Chae-kyung, who has been serving as a promotional ambassador for Hanbok and Korean food in China, as its new county ambassador.
Ambassador Lee, spouse of Consul General Ha Sung-joo in Wuhan, also serves as a promotional ambassador for Chibi City, playing a bridging role in Korea–China cultural exchanges.
Chibi City is well known as the site of the historic Battle of Red Cliffs from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. With the Yangtze River as its backdrop, it is a healing city renowned for its hot springs and rich tea culture.
In particular, with the Korean government granting visa-free entry for Chinese group tourists from September 29 until June 30 next year, Wando County expects the new ambassadorial appointment to significantly contribute to attracting more Chinese visitors.
Going forward, Ambassador Lee and her team plan to work with five-star travel agencies in China to invite corporate delegations and tourists to Wando.
During her three-day visit to Wando for the appointment ceremony, Ambassador Lee and her delegation toured key cultural and historical sites, enjoyed abalone harvesting, and experienced various programs.
They also visited the historical site of Admiral Yi Sun-sin in Myodangdo, Gogum-myeon, where the friendship between Admiral Yi and Ming Dynasty General Chen Lin is commemorated, reflecting on the long-standing historical ties between Wando and China.
At the Wando Marine Healing Center, the delegation participated in marine-based healing programs, yoga and red-clay walking at the Climate Healing Center, and abalone gimbap making at the Cultural Healing Center, experiencing firsthand the unique attractions of Wando.
Ambassador Lee stated, “The healing programs utilizing marine resources were very unique, and I was impressed by how much potential Wando has to promote itself. As an ambassador, I will actively work to attract Chinese tourists to Wando.”
Wando County Mayor Shin Woo-cheol added, “We look forward to even more active Korea–China exchanges in the future. We hope Wando’s marine healing tourism will become widely known in China, allowing many people to restore both their body and mind here.”
