“진도 농업의 자존심 세웠다”… 강성민 서진도농협 조합장, ‘대한민국 농업대상’ 최우수상 영예

강성민 서진도농협 조합장이 11월 5일 경기도 수원특례시 농민회관에서 열린 ‘2025 대한민국 농업대상’ 시상식에서 농산업 분야 최우수상을 수상하며 진도 농업의 위상을 다시 한 번 드높였다.

‘대한민국 농업대상’은 사단법인 한국농촌지도자중앙연합회가 주최하는 농업 분야 최고 권위의 상으로, 매년 농업·농촌 발전과 농업인 권익 향상에 탁월한 공적을 세운 인물을 선정해 수여한다.

올해 시상은 국가농정, 지방농정, 농촌진흥, 농업인, 농산업 등 5개 분야에서 1차 서류심사와 2차 시상위원회 심의를 거쳐 최종 수상자를 결정했다.

강성민 조합장은 서진도농협을 중심으로 농업인 실익 증진, 지역사회 기여, 진도 대표 농산물의 브랜드 가치 강화 등에서 꾸준하고도 내실 있는 성과를 쌓아 왔다.

특히 겨울배추·겨울대파 등 지역 대표 농산물의 홍보와 유통경쟁력 제고에 앞장서며 농가 소득 증대에 크게 기여했다는 평가를 받았다.

이러한 노력은 서진도농협의 사업 성장으로 이어졌다. 조합원 중심의 경영과 신뢰 기반의 조직 운영으로 농협의 경쟁력이 한층 강화됐고, 지역사회에서도 인정받는 조직으로 자리매김했다.

수상 소감에서 강 조합장은 “지역 농업을 지켜 온 농업인 조합원이 있었기에 이 상을 받을 수 있었다.”며 “모든 영예를 조합원 여러분께 돌린다.”고 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

또한 “앞으로도 지역농업과 서진도농협의 지속 발전을 위해 최선을 다하겠다.”고 각오를 밝혔다.

이번 수상은 개인의 영예를 넘어, 진도 지역 농업의 경쟁력과 서진도농협의 위상을 전국적으로 알리는 계기가 됐다는 평가가 나온다.

Kang Seong-min, head of the Seojindo Agricultural Cooperative, has elevated the stature of Jindo’s agricultural sector by receiving the Top Award in the Agri-Industry category at the 2025 Korea Agriculture Awards, held on November 5 at the Farmers’ Hall in Suwon Special City, Gyeonggi Province.
The Korea Agriculture Awards, hosted by the Korea Rural Leaders Central Federation, is recognized as one of the most prestigious honors in the agricultural sector. Each year, the award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of agriculture and rural communities and to the advancement of farmers’ rights.
This year’s awardees were selected through a two-stage process—an initial document screening and a final review by the awards committee—across five categories: national agricultural policy, local agricultural policy, rural development, farmers, and agri-industry.
Kang was recognized for his steady and substantive achievements in strengthening farmers’ practical benefits, contributing to the local community, and enhancing the brand value of Jindo’s representative agricultural products.
In particular, his efforts to promote and improve the market competitiveness of key regional specialties—winter cabbage and winter green onions—have played a significant role in increasing farm household income.
These accomplishments have translated into tangible growth for the Seojindo Agricultural Cooperative. Through farmer-centered management and trust-based organizational leadership, the cooperative has strengthened its competitiveness and earned recognition from both members and the local community.
In his acceptance speech, Kang stated, “This award was only possible thanks to the farmers and cooperative members who have steadfastly safeguarded our local agriculture. I dedicate this honor entirely to them.” He added, “I will continue to do my utmost for the development of regional agriculture and the Seojindo Agricultural Cooperative.”
Kang’s award is widely regarded as more than a personal achievement; it marks a significant opportunity to promote the competitiveness of Jindo’s agricultural industry and elevate the nationwide reputation of the Seojindo Agricultural Cooperative.
