완도해양경찰서(서장 김길규)는 11월 4일 김용진 해양경찰청장(치안총감)이 완도해경을 방문해 동절기 해양사고 대비태세와 치안현장을 직접 점검하고, 일선 경찰관들과 소통의 시간을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

이날 김 청장은 완도해양경찰서에서 관내 주요 현안과 치안유지 상황 등에 대한 업무현황 보고를 받은 뒤, 현장 중심의 해양안전 체계 확립 방안을 논의했다.

이어 해양경찰 발전에 기여한 직원들에게 유공 표창을 수여하며 노고를 격려했다.

또한 직원들과의 대화 자리에서는 ‘공직의 이해’를 주제로 강연을 펼치며, 자신의 경험을 바탕으로 후배 해양경찰관들에게 진심 어린 조언을 전했다.

김 청장은 이후 완도해상교통관제센터(VTS)를 방문해 관제 현장을 점검하고, 관제 요원들의 근무 여건을 살피며 “겨울철 해상교통 안전관리와 사고 예방에 최선을 다해달라”고 당부했다.

김길규 완도해양경찰서장은 “청장님의 방문은 완도해경 구성원들에게 큰 격려와 자부심이 됐다”며 “앞으로도 현장 중심의 치안 활동을 강화해 국민이 신뢰하는 해양경찰이 되겠다.”고 말했다.

“KIM Yong-jin, Commissioner General of the Korea Coast Guard, Visits Wando Coast Guard — Strengthening Winter Maritime Safety Readiness and Field Communication”
Wando Coast Guard (Chief Kim Gil-gyu) announced on November 4 that Korea Coast Guard Commissioner General Kim Yong-jin visited the Wando Coast Guard to inspect winter maritime accident preparedness, assess the public safety field, and engage in direct communication with frontline officers.
During his visit, Commissioner Kim received a briefing on key local issues and law enforcement activities within the Wando jurisdiction, discussing strategies to establish a stronger, field-centered maritime safety system.
He also presented commendations to officers who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the Coast Guard, expressing his appreciation for their dedication.
In a meeting with the staff, Commissioner Kim delivered a special lecture titled “Understanding Public Service,” sharing his insights and experiences to provide meaningful advice to younger officers.
Later, Commissioner Kim visited the Wando Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Center to inspect the control operations and encourage the staff. He emphasized, “Please do your utmost to ensure maritime traffic safety and prevent accidents during the winter season.”
Chief Kim Gil-gyu of the Wando Coast Guard said, “The Commissioner’s visit was a great encouragement and source of pride for all our members,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen field-oriented policing activities and build greater public trust in the Coast Guard.”
